I've got a really stupid question about wireless networks... Why would a laptop all of a sudden stop detecting a network connection? I know it still works
since I can access it with my iPod Touch.

See what happens when you right click and select "Repair connection" It usually fixes mine.

I tried that, it told me that it couldn't be repaired because no networks were detected.

that happens to mine every now and then. yesterday, had to reboot everything in order to get it back onto the network. it's especially annoying because
when i left for work yesterday, everything was fine and then i came home to that. not sure what causes it though.

Mine does that sometimes too. Sometimes it's just once a month, other times it'll be 3 times a day. I usually try to click on "repair", but
if that doesn't work then I unplug the router for a few minutes and when I plug it back in it usually connects to my laptop again on its own. Once in a
while if it doesn't then I'll also try restarting my laptop and it sometimes works.
It's really annoying, I know. |

See I tried all that, even left the laptop shut down all night and it still didn't help. I don't get it. I'm about ready to rip out my hair.

Is your wireless button on? My roommate had the same issue and she had somehow disabled her wireless card/button. Mine is at the top of my computer and says
Wi-Fi.

Did that too... even having the router right next to the laptop doesn't help.

Go to your control panel, then administrative tools, and then click on services. Make sure your wireless connection and internet is turned on and set to
automatic.

Restart the modem and wireless router and wait 30sec [each] before plugging the modem back in and wait for it to boot up, then plug in the router. Then try.
And if not - try resetting your ip |

I'm reaching here, but, could your anti-virus program possibly be messing up your connection?

I've never had AVG do anything like that before, but I guess it's possible. Since I'm not the best with computers I don't know how I would find
out. All I know is one minute everything was working fine the next the thing said there was no wireless networks.
