I totally hope you're right! I just watched the finale today and I bawled like a baby. I can't believe that they would let George go that way. At least let him live, get together with the girl, whatever...at least there would be some hope that he would return to the show sometime down the road...but to kill him off this way? Brutal... tears my heart out.

Does anyone else remember when Patrick Dempsey was on the view awhile back and said that EVERYONE still had contracts for 2 more years and they weren't going anywhere? Did he lie or not know? That interview Shondra says no one renewed their contracts yet, or maybe she's meaning the newer characters? I'm so confused.

When he first did the 007, I was totally convinved that the girl pushed him in front of the bus and then it clicked.... That was honestly the first time in a few seasons I have been SHOCKED by something on that show.

I was just assuming that I would've heard about it beforehand if John Doe was George. I usually can't help myself from reading spoilers

. Plus it's not all that unusual to see George for large portions of episodes, so I didn't think too much of it.

Me too!! I read spoilers about it, and all they said was that George joined the military. And I didn't even think "Where's George?" because like you said, he's not usually around that much (Unfortunately!), plus the Chief said he sent him home...god damn. I mean, wow. I haven't been this shocked and upset about anything on TV in forever.

I totally agree. I think Izzie going up in the elevator and George being there to meet her when the door opens was intended to symbolize that Izzie is making her final trip to a "Better Place" and George, who died before her, is already there to help her cross the great divide or whatever you want to call it. In any event, they're both dead.

I have to give Shonda her props. Absolutely brilliant ending.

I think the elevator means Izzie lives and George dies. George is off the elevator and Izzie didn't get off.

I think when she does die (when ever that will be) the scene would be her in her prom dress, she gets off the elevator and walks off with Denny.

I just watched this and I knew George was going to die because people spoiled it for me on facebook.. and I was trying to figure it out the whole episode how he would die and I never even suspected he was the John Doe!

They used old footage from the season 2 finale. The only thing that was new was the part at the very end where she and George were looking at each other.

I still can't stop thinking about this episode. Friday morning, when I woke up, I felt nauseous, because I was so upset from the night before. I never cried, but I just sat there stunned saying "oh my God" for a good long time. I just started watching season 1 again, and just watching George and Izzie, especially when Alex calls George 007 about 10 times in the pilot, absolutely kills me. It makes me sad to think that most likely the original 5 won't be back together in the fall. It also amuses me to see Meredith and Derek just flirting with each other knowing that they're married now - too funny.
