I love the old movies (well the first two and H20). Is this one decent?

I really didn't like it, and I do love horror movies, I felt like it was trying too hard to be as crude as possible at times.

Thanks for the opinions! I thought maybe it looked like they were going to be too into gore based upon the commercials.

I watched last week on On demand. I loved it.

No it is absolutely horrendous. If you're a fan of the original at all you'll be offended. I like Rob Zombie, but he totally missed the boat.
The ONLY thing worse is Friday the 13th 2009. |

It's not really anything like the originals. It's updated a bit, but I really liked it as a horror film.

I watched the original earlier. That's some quick sex Judith and her boyfriend had. Between the time Michael sees her and boyfriend making out downstairs
till the time Michael kills her in her bedroom after her boyfriend leaves, it is like two minutes.

Rob Zombie's Halloween movie is horrible.

There are mixed views on it. Personally, I didn't like it. But then, I don't like Rob Zombie's movies as they're just not my style. But I had
to see it because it's Halloween. It's not meant to be a remake of the original or anything, but I just couldn't get behind it. I know people are
crude and Rob Zombie most definitely does crude... but it was way too much for me. I don't like what they did to the Laurie character in the beginning.
There is a serious rape scene in the film, but I believe they removed it on the cable showing of it. |

According to the Official MB for all the Halloween movies, the rape scene wasn't in the Theatrical release either. It's only in the director's cut
on the DVD.

No, it wasn't in the theatrical release. They would've run into some trouble trying to put that in. It's disturbing.

I've only seen the workprint anyway but the rape scene was so damned random and you could tell it was just there to "shock", like you can kind of understand it but not really! At least the rape scene in Last House On The Left has a purpose, it's not just tasteless for the sake of tasteless! |

I thought it was really good! It has it's issues, but overall, good.
Shai, they took out the rape scene (thank god) unless you have the unrated edition. |

I loooooove it! Tyler = perfect Michael. My favorite part is all the backstory on him as a kid. Rob is one of my favorites though so I am kind of biased with
my opinion.
I wish H2 didn't look so awful.

AtomicDaisy wrote:See, that's what I hated about it. The back story he gave was just to obvious for a killer. The magic of the original was that he simply WAS evil. There was no rhyme or reason behind it... it simply was. In the 2007 version, you felt a little bad for the kid in the beginning. Not to say the kid didn't do a great job, because he did. I just found that having him kill his pets and other animals and then bullies at school was too typical of a background. Maybe if it had been a stand-alone film and the original hadn't been in existence, I might feel differently. I dunno. I have issues with the mask too. I don't know how I feel about it being in the beginning of the film. Not sure I like that. Even though it was creepy when Michael put it on as a kid. (even if a little funny since it was too big for him). I do agree that Tyler Mane was a good choice, because he was so huge and just looked menacing. I guess I'm just biased to the original film, even knowing it wasn't a remake, but a re-imagining. |
