Kenny7474 wrote: LATINA is a culture not a skin color. You can be afro latina, muletta latina, indian-latina, euro-latina (who don't use the Euro reference), middle-eastern latina, asian-latina ect. Hell, after Nigeria, Brasil is the country with the biggest black/muletta population (estimated at 75 millions people). They are latinos and black. Afro-latinos and mulettos. What is weird is that latina, comes from latine and refers to all people under the original latine countries speaking a variant of the original latine language : FRENCH, ITALIAN, SPANISH and PORTUGUESE. They are all latines EQUALY whatever the color of their skin and even some historians go as far as telling that the language confer the latine culture meaning that even african country where they speak french or portuguese (like angola or cabo verde) are at times refers as latine-bantou versus those where they speak English because a great part of their culture, habits, housing, arts, even way of acting, reacting is influenced by the latine language they have been submitted too and still talk. In the US they only use the term latine as an extension of latine-america excluding the Italians or the French who are BY ALL MEANS totally latines. |

^ Latin is kind of a confusing term. I understand what it means, but yes in the US it's something different from the real definition.
Maybe it's just the ones I've seen, but all the black latinos seem to be so good-looking. The most handsome guy I've ever seen irl is a black latino whose parents also came from two different countries (forgot which ones). |

Also, Dominican republic shares the same island as Haiti. The island is parted in two. one part is Haiti, the other one is Dominican republic. There are obsiously transfer of people from one another and especially from Haiti to Dominca republic who is less poorer. Technically, even Haitians are Latines because they were under the French crown while the Dominican republic was under the spanish one. Obviously like in many former colonies, Spaniards and Portugueses tend to send many more people to mix with original Indians and then the African slaves they brought in, hence more mulletos and a more mixity within the population where they speak spanish. People just often confuse the term latina/o with Hispanics. The first one is the culture, the second one is more related to the spanish background |
