What if I said my weakness is the fact that I don't have my MBA yet. I could say that I'm taking steps to change that by taking the GMAT and I'll
soon apply to a business school.
When an employer asks you what your weaknesses are..

they can see that by your resume anyway).

I say I have a hard time saying no, which sometimes leads to me taking on too much work at once (shifts, projects etc)

If you get as far as an interview in spite of the fact they see you don't have an MBA, I'd just pile on all the reasons why you're perfect for the job, not mention the one thing that could be a big detraction. I personally wouldn't touch it unless the interviewer brought it up specifically, then I'd go in to how I'm in the process of getting it. Either that, or add it in elsewhere, not on the weakness question. Just imo. |

You don't want to give them any answer that doesn't allow you to say "but I'm doing/have done A and B to combat it which has led to X, Y and
Z, so I feel like it's improved a lot." Otherwise all you're doing is pointing out a flaw!!
I've usually given the flip side of my answer to the 'best qualities' question - like, whatever I do I want to do it well so I'm thorough and I'm motivated, but if I'm not careful that could lead to me putting unnecessary pressure on myself so I have to keep it balanced. I always give an example of how I keep it in check so they know I've identified the issue and it's under control. |
