I was given a flu shot (even though its been confirmed that it wont protect against this particular strain, the doctor said there were lot of other flus going around in Mexico right now, so it wouldnt' hurt). But, she insisted there was no need to change any travel plans - because it is here already, or will be here ASAP. I guess she was right! But yeah, she just emphasized the need to keep physical distance from people (the flu isn't THAT contagious, someone coughing a few meters away from you shouldn't infect you), washing hands, and not touching your face. You do know it take 2 weeks for the vaccine to be effective, right?? I was told otherwise. But even still, not like it would make a big difference since it isn't effective against this flu. I mostly was going to the vaccine place for a Hep A vaccine. It takes 2 weeks for the vaccine to work, if you were told otherwise by a doctor I would consider getting a second opinion. But again, at this point what does it matter? The flu shot doesn't prevent against this flu, she just said it wouldn't hurt to get it. My vacation is looking better and better Not even sure if I'm going anymore. You have no idea how much it sucks to look forward to a vacation for SO LONG, and to now have this happen. I'll lose $1650 if I don't go

I am afraid to get treated by some hospital that thinks anti-viral is not the right medicine or one that refuses to test for the freaking flu and insists I have a bacterial infection. Odd fear, but as long as it is treatable, I am not afraid. I am just afraid of idiot doctors.
