When I turn the laptop on, it says a network is located but I'm not sure what I need to do exactly.

I just got a laptop yesterday and want to get it set up for wireless internet. I have Time Warner and I used to have wireless up on a 2nd computer in the
house. I'm still paying for it and still have the wireless adapter and I just wanted to know if I plug in the adapter to the laptop if it will recognize it
or if TWC has to do something to the laptop as well?

You have to pay extra for wireless? If it's wireless you shouldn't have to plug anything in. I think if it's a new laptop it should already have
wireless capability, and if it's locating the network on its own just hit.... connect or whatever, when it says that.

I called Time Warner yesterday and tried to get it but it still isn't connecting right.
Basically I want the wireless internet that I can use anywhere I go with the computer. The one they wanted to set up was one I had to use in close range to the router on the other computer. I feel stupid because I don't know where to go to get the internet connection that I want and I dunno..no one can seem to understand what I'm talking about |

You should be able to right click on the little connection icon and it should give you a list of wireless networks to use.

Are you talking about a little like USB thingy u put in your laptop, which allows you to go on the internet from anywhere? Not just in your house? like this...
http://www.rogers.com/web/link/wirelessBuyFlow?forwardTo=PhoneThenPlan&productType=normal&productId_Detailed=MF636REDR I live in Canada and we have different service providers, but I think this is the type of thing your talking about. |

Yea, when I go to the connection icon it brings up my neighbors' networks and my Motorola router on the desktop computer downstairs. It won't stay
connected to the Motorola because its not close enough (at least thats what Time Warner told me). There aren't any other connections that I'm able to
use.
What I'm looking for is the connection or whatever I need to use the laptop anywhere without a problem. I have AT&T for my cell phone, would I be able to get their wireless connection? |

Ok, in that case you'll need an AT&T wireless network adapter card -- and you'll probably have to pay AT&T for the service.
