First off, let me just say that if someone is with him 24 hours a day, then he wouldn't have slipped out twice. Obviously there are times when he is alone in a room. But unless someone is sitting with him when he's supposed to be asleep then it's bound to happen.

You also sort of act like you are sometimes doing this alone, but I assume you are supervising while your mom is at work, then she comes homes and takes over right?

As for the neighbours, I really think they could be more compassionate and supportive though. I think if it's only been twice in 2 years that he's got out, then it seems to be very extreme that they would feel the need to talk to you about the "issue" and also report your family to protective services.

But if this is stressing you out to the degree that you are are talking about in your posts, then I think it's time that grandpa went to a home. You are saying your family can't afford it, but there are government run facilities although I'd be scared to put a loved family member in one of them with some of the stuff we read in the paper.

You're 24, you should actually be out starting a career and getting a job and living on your own.
