NancyOttawa wrote:Your problem is that your sense of worth is tied to how many Americans know about you or feel about you. If your "pride" was real, you wouldn't be so bothered by what other people are saying on a message board. Americans do know about other countries. Canada just isn't one of them. The fact that you guys on here are judging Americans based on what a few have said about your country shows how hypocritical you are. Stop crying about it and move on.

Well that's good for you but Canada takes pride in educating itself and knowing about ALL countries other than our own. BUt like they say "ignorance is bliss".But if people aren't going to educate themselves about other countries, especially one they do a lot of business with, then it may be a good idea to not make negative comments about a place they know nothing about. I'm not speaking for all the states as I don't know for sure, but I remember being surprised when I moved to Maine that they only taught American History and when I was going to school in Canada until Grade 11, we learned World History.
So, do a lot of Americans think Canada is a joke?

Ann Coulter said that Canada should feel privilidged the US allows them to exist on the same continent. She's an idiot. I've always found it funny how some seem to think that this is a Holy land or something. |

I'm Canadian and my favourite How I Met Your Mother episodes are all the episodes about Robin's past in Canada and it's culture, like the latest
episode that was just aired... (Harvey's Trays...LMAO). In that context, it's all fun and games and it's always good to laugh at yourself once in a
while but the videos on Fox News and Ann Coulter just took it way over the line and I completely understand the outrage by Canadians right now.

If it were someone SANE and of good mental health, I could see why a lot of Canadians would be pissed.
But, really, it's Ann Coulter. ANN COULTER. She is a attention-whoring nutjob of the highest degree! For the love of Wayne Gretsky, PLEASE do not think what she says represents the U.S.! |

But I've moved past it and apologized for over reacting. Maybe you should read all the posts before coming in the way you did. Most of us have moved past this, ok? But I disagree with 99% of the people, saying they love it. at least half have said they don't give a damn.

To answer LaurieStar. No, but I did go for an overnight thing where we caught these little fish and scooped them up in nets and cooked them right on the side
of the river and ate them in hot dog buns with a mustard/mayo mix. Can't recal the name of the little fish but it was so tasty. And we spent all winter on
skidoos through the heavy wooded areas up to little campyards with huts with wood stoves.

I like Canadians. I make little jokes about Canada like if I get a Canadian coin I'll throw it on the ground and say "them damn Canadians are taking
over the world!"
