I am not afraid of my blood but I think this cup business is absolutely disgusting.

This seems like one of those things that sounds great in theory, but the actual execution is...well, a mess. And the whole washing out your menstrual cup in a
public restroom? Fucking sick.

I use cloth pads. I wanted to try the diva cup but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Okay, explain cloth pads to me. I thought that was something straight out of the late 50s. I am so not up on my period fashion

I don't know how I feel about this. The thought kinda grosses me out! Ew I just can't imagine a cup full of period blood.

The cloth pads sounds more disgusting than the cup

But blood also accumulates on your tampon all day. Or at least for a few hours. And I'm guessing you can empty the Diva cup whenever you want to, you
don't have to leave it in all day.
I don't even use a menstrual cup but some of these reactions strike me as a little hysterical. |

The way I look at it is that if you describe using a tampon to someone who has never heard of it either, it's gotta sound pretty gross! But then you use
them because you have to and you deal and it's not so bad. So I'm thinking there are no words that could possibly describe this cup that would make me
be like, "omg, that sounds like an AMAZING experience. I wish I could have my period all the time just so I could wear that cup every day!" But maybe
it's not so bad when you actually give it a try.

I'm not going to read all four pages, because I can guess what it says.
It's like using cloth diapers, IMO. Most of the time, it's great makes sense, other times, you go for the disposables. |

Just bleed in your panties till it's clean? You can't hop to the sink with your pants down if you're in a public bathroom. And some woman bleed heavier than others. I usually use a pantyliner to back up my tampon, anyway, so I assume other women could do the same? |

What, if any, are the advantages to this?

Well, from what I understand, Lisa, you can wear them longer than tampons.
And then the reusables ones are of course better for the environment. And then maybe no risk of TSS would be another one? |

But does wearing it longer with a big pool of blood really reduce the risk of TSS?

That's pretty much it. The people I know do it primarily for the environmental concern, and I've thought about doing it, myself. But I have very light
periods, anyway, so I rarely go through that many tampons. I might try it out next year, just to see how it works for me.
