Posts: 28916 03/03/2009 2:15 PM	K, the cliff notes version is I'm not sure I'm going to be able to graduate in June or not. This is what i have so far: LAURENTIAN UNIVERSITY (at Algoma) SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO Bachelor of Business Administration (in progress) Major in Marketing Is it proper to leave "in process" or should I change it to "on going" or soemthing else? Thanks

MARIE, ONTARIO (Start year-"Current") Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Marketing If phrased this way, as in including "____-Current", you can always clarify in your interview. What you do not want to do is put down that you received your degree if you haven't yet (obviously). It's another way of saying 'in progress', but it sounds nicer. (My dad's been in HR for 25+ years, and that's what he's advised me to do on my resume)

MARIE, ONTARIO (2006 - Current) Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Marketing or LAURENTIAN UNIVERSITY (at Algoma) SAULT STE. Posts: 28916 03/03/2009 3:46 PM	I'm also having problems fitting my volunteer stuff on one line. 2006 - 2008 VOLUNTEER, (STUDENT AMBASSADOR) LAURENTIAN UNIVERSITY 2005 VOLUNTEER, (ONTARIO COLLEGES MARKETING COMPETITION), SENECA COLLEGE 2002 VOLUNTEER (TRAVEL AGENT ASSISTANT), ZEN TRAVEL 1999 VOLUNTEER, CHILDREN'S AID FOUNDATION 1998 VOLUNTEER, COLEDALE, YMCA CHILD CARE CENTRE 1997 VOLUNTEER, CROHN'S AND COLITIS WHEEL N'HEEL A-THON 1995 - 1998 VOLUNTEER, TD BANK - ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY 1992 - 1993 VOLUNTEER (STAFF AIDE), PASTIMES DAY CAMP the stuff in bold doesn't fit on one line in Word. I was told to write the position, then my "duty" in brackets then the place. I left the first one as Laurentian Univerisity instead of Laurentian University (at Algoma) Also, is it necessary that I write (at Algoma)? the degree is going to say Laurentian University. To my knowledge there will be no "Algoma" anywhere. But when i get my reference letter for being a student ambassador the letterhead is going to say "Algoma University" Edited 3 times by babylulu 03/04/2009 12:06 AM.

Posts: 1725 03/04/2009 1:08 AM	For the Volunteer stuff, why do you need to write Volunteer beside everyone. You could just put it under the header 'Volunteer Experience' or something like that. Like for the first one put 2006-2008 Student Ambassador, Laurentian University. Just put "Volunteer" for the one's with no actual job title. Also The volunteer experience that is over 10 years old is kind of irrelevant. Especially as a college student, they understand if you won't have relevant work experience, you will include relevant volunteering but stuff from a decade ago, I don't think they would care. Unless maybe you are applying for working with children and that is why you are including it? Then if you cut that out you will be able to fit hte more relevant recent experience in even if it takes more than one line. I don't know what to do about the graduation date thing thouhg.
