Yes and it's really annoying. I was tested years ago, I just remember I had to fast the night before and they drew blood. I don't ever really get
hungry, so if I go too long I'll get shaky, weak and irritated. A few times I've waited too long to eat and I saw stars right before I passed out, and
my hands clenched up into C-shapes. It was creepy.

My hands DEFINITELY have been doing the clenching thing. Today I almost passed out in class, I kind of got a weird rush then my mind blanked, then I got really
cold, shaky, and my heart sped up. I drank some water and calmed down but I'm really worried now.
I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow to see a doctor but I don't want to give blood.

I get that. A lot. I have passed out in school/at home many times. I get really shaky, and then all the sudden I start getting clammy all over and start to go
black. Sometimes I have time to sit and others I'm on the ground faster than I even realized what was happening. I haven't been tested in a while so I
think I should again. I'm sure giving blood won't be so bad! Just try to talk about something while they are getting it.

to do it differently now.
Until you can get in, though, just make sure you're eating at regular intervals. I quite honestly don't remember much of what my doctor told me, but I eat a little something every two to three hours, and it's so much better. Mine sneaks up on me sometimes, too, so I always keep a juice box and a bag of almonds or crackers in my bag just in case. That'll reverse it in a few minutes. *hugs* |

The strange thing is that after the holidays this year, I decided I was going to eat smaller, more frequent meals.
I just have so much anxiety about it that I'm probably going to give myself a panic attack! Thank you.

I'm hypoglycemic. I've never fainted but I do get shaky, dizzy, irritable and confused/unable to make decisions. I find that my blood sugar gets out of
whack more easily when I'm stressed or when I'm working/learning/thinking hard. I recent came across an article about a study that supports this. I try
to eliminate sugar, eat lotsa protein and fiber and eat frequent meals/snacks but it really is a day-to-day challenge.
I've had to do the test twice. The first time, they made me keep drinking that disgusting orange glucose drink and drew blood over the course of several hours. That was horrible. The second one was nothing. I fasted overnight, they drew blood in the early morning then let me go eat some breakfast and come back late morning for more blood. |
