The Minster finished his sermon and the crowd filed away. The young woman stood emotionless as she looked at the silver coffin. The air could be cut with a knife and a pen could drop as the young woman stood there in silence. "Sarah Calloway?" asked a guy "If you're a cop, I already answered all the questions I'm supposed too." Said Sarah as she turned around to see a tall guy with dirty blonde hair and a scruffy beard "You a cop?" asked Sarah "No Girly I'm not." Said the guy "Well then if you're going to kill me, then go ahead." Said Sarah "Charlie sent me." said the guy "Oh." Said Sarah "He sent me to take you to him." Said the guy "Okay." "Have a seat, Sarah." Said the tall guy who sat down at the desk in front of her "Yes Sir." Said Sarah sitting down "Did anyone recognize you at the funeral?" asked the tall guy "No Sir." Said Sarah "Do you know how stupid that is? What if the person that murdered him was there? At least tell me, you knew the risk." Said the tall guy "Yes! For God's sake, Charlie, I had to go." Said Sarah "Well, now you have to leave Miami." Said Charlie "What?" asked Sarah "Until this investigation is solved, you are going to be living somewhere else." Said Charlie "Where?" asked Sarah "On an island off of Miami Beach. The cabin is very secluded. No one can get to and from the cabin without a code for the gate." Said Charlie as he flipped through some papers in a folder on his desk "How am I supposed to go to the island?" asked Sarah "You and Matt will get on a fairy." Said Charlie "Who is Matt?" asked Sarah "The guy standing behind you, Sweet Cheeks." Said Matt "As I was saying, there will be a car outside wait for you to take on the fairy." Said Charlie "For how long?" asked Sarah "A week. A month. Maybe a year." Said Charlie "What about my family? When can I see my mother?" asked Sarah "You will see your mother and father…" said Charlie "I don't want to see my father." Said Sarah interrupting the older man "You will see your mother and father soon." Said Charlie "Okay." Said Sarah "Now, there are some ground rules." Said Charlie "Rules? Charlie, I don't need rules." Said Sarah standing up "Sarah, you do if you want to come out of this thing alive." Said Charlie "Fine." Said Sarah sitting back in the chair as she put her arms over her chest and crossed them. "You can go off the island, only by fairy and just go to the store. Anywhere else has to be cleared up by me. Matt has to be with you the entire time and you two have to pretend to be together." Said Charlie "No." said Sarah "For God's sakes, Sarah, will you listen? We are trying to help you. I got one of my best men working to protect you night and day. Now, so I make myself clear?" asked Charlie "Yes." Said Sarah quietly "What?" asked Charlie "Yes Charlie." Said Sarah "Good. Now, get out of my office. I will be in touch a little later." Said Charlie "Yes Sir." Said Matt pushing himself off the wall with his foot as he followed her out "Sawyer?" asked Charlie "Yes Sir." Said Matt turning around "Take care of her." Said Charlie "Yes Sir." Said Matt walking out and shutting the door behind him R&R

CHapter 3 The air thick with fog as Sarah leaned against the Ford Explorer with her arms across her chest. "Hey Princess?" asked Matt as he stroll around the front of the car grabbing a pack of cigarettes out of his shirt pocket "What?" asked Sarah looking at him with a look that could kill "I don't like this anymore then you do." Said Matt "Then why did you agree to the assignment?" asked Sarah "Cause I can use a gun." Said Matt taking out a black nine millimeter gun out of the back of his jeans "Put that away, you jerk. Before people see you." Said Sarah "Fine Brown Eyes." Said Matt "I can take care of myself." Said Sarah "You may think you can, but you cant." Said Matt "You don't know me at all." Said Sarah "You're right. I don't. Want a smoke?" asked Matt "No." said Sarah moving away from him as his cell phone goes off "Sawyer." Said Matt putting the phone to his ear "Matt, are you and Sarah on the fairy?" asked Charlie "Unfortunately. Can I throw the snot nose spoiled brat over board yet? Charlie, I'll pay for the damages myself." Said Matt "Sawyer, I know this girl can be a handful, but I need her to stay alive to get this creep behind bars. I need you to stay with her and protect her. You are the best I got and I need you to do your job. Do I make myself clear?" asked Charlie "Yes Sir." Said Matt staring at Sarah with his sharp muscular jaw locked as he gritted his teeth "Now, what I was going to call you about is: after you get settled into the cabin, you two will have to go to the store to get what yall need." Said Charlie "Why aint the cabin already stocked with food and shit like that?" asked Matt "I don't know." Said Charlie "Charlie usually people in the Witness Protection Programs don't go out in public and you are telling me to take her to the store." Said Matt "Yes and you will do it, cause that is an order and you will stay with her. Always." Said Charlie hanging up the phone "Son of a bitch." Said Matt flipping the phone down and tossing the phone onto the drivers seat "What's wrong with you?" asked Sarah "Nothing. Get in the car." Said Matt "Excuse me?" asked Sarah "Get in the damn car before I throw you in it." Said Matt "You know you can say it a little nicer and then maybe I'll do it." Said Sarah standing there "Get in the car please. The fairy is about to dock." Said Matt "Okay. See now, was that so hard?" asked Sarah walking toward the car as Matt opened the door for her "Just get in." said Matt "Fine." Said Sarah getting in "Thank you." Said Matt shutting the door "You know, just because you are my great, and powerful protector doesn't mean you have to be mean." Said Sarah "Shut up." Said Matt then he jogged around the front of the car, getting into the front seat and turned on the ignition. R&R

"Are you sure we're not lost? We turned off the main road a long time ago." Said Sarah turning towards him "We're not lost." Said Matt "Do you know where you're going?" asked Sarah "If I knew where I was going, Brown Eyes, I wouldn't be looking at this damn paper with the instructions on it." Said Matt "Sorry. Dumb question." Said Sarah "You're right." Said Matt "I said I was sorry. You don't have to agree. It just that we have been in this car for like an hour and I'm tired." Said Sarah "Can it. We're almost there." Said Matt as he turned down a newly black assfault road and pushed the button to the window "Are we here?" asked Sarah "Yes." Said Matt as he punched his ten digit code and the gate opened up "Have you ever been here before?" asked Sarah "No." said Matt "But you put a code in the gate to open it." Said Sarah "Its my code. Each time we come in or out, I have to put a code in so Charlie knows." Said Matt "Okay." Said Sarah as Matt drove down the newly assfault road "Are we in the mountains?" asked Sarah looking out the window "There are no mountains in Miami." Said Matt "Sorry." Said Sarah "You ask too many too questions." Said Matt "Well sorry. Asking questions is how you learn and I have never been in the Witness Protection Program before." Said Sarah "Just shut up and sit there." Said Matt "Fine." Said Sarah leaning against the window R&R

"Is this it?" asked Sarah "Yeah." Said Matt "Oh, I'm sorry. That was a question. I forgot, I'm not supposed to ask any questions." Said Sarah "Shut up and listen to me." said Matt "Fine." Said Sarah "If you don't listen to me, you will be killed." Said Matt "Fine. I'm listening, Mr. Protector. I'm listening." Said Sarah "Okay. Here. Take this key and unlock the door." Said Matt "Okay." Said Sarah taking the key from the man's hand "But first, you need to stay by me. I'm going to come around to get you." Said Matt taking off his seatbelt and opening the door "Okay." Said Sarah as he gets out and hoes around the back of the car looking around "Okay. Its clear. Get out." Said Matt opening the door "Are you sure?" asked Sarah "Get out of the damn car, Princess." Said Matt taking her hand and helping her out "Thank you." Said Sarah "Shut up and get inside." Said Matt "Please." Said Sarah "Please." Said Matt shutting the door as he took his gun out from the back of his jeans "Oh yeah, I feel real protected now." Said Sarah sarcastically as she climbed the steps "Just get inside." Said Matt "I got the key. I will get inside when I'm ready to get inside." Said Sarah smirking "Listen here, you snot nose bitch, when I tell you to get inside, you get inside, or I'm going to have to protect you. I'm going to have to kill you." Said Matt "Is that a threat?" asked Sarah "No Brown Eyes, that's a promise. Now, get your ass in the fucking cabin." Said Matt "Fine." Said Sarah unlocking the door "Thank you." Said Matt "Are you sure you don't want to scope it out first?" asked Sarah "Get in the fucking house." Said Matt opening the door and pushing her in "Ow." Said Sarah "Now, you are going to listen to me. I'm here to keep your life safe. You are suppose to do as I say." Said Matt pushing her up against the couch with their faces so close together "Yes Sir." Said Sarah as he looked at her lips and then pressed his against hers. "Stay here while I go look for a breaker box and turn on the electricity." Said Matt breathlessly as he broke the kiss from the protectee "Okay." Said Matt "So, where's my room, Ol great and powerful protector." You want it?" asked Sarah pulling the rabbit's foot key chain out of the pocket of her black nylon pants "No, Keep it. You can unlock the door and lock it while I keep guard." Said Matt "Okay." Matt pushed the button to roll down the window and reached between the seat and the door and reached for a book "We're not getting out?" asked Sarah "No, Brown Eyes, we're not." Said Matt "But it's a twenty minute ride." Said Sarah "Yeah. I know and I'm catching up on my reading." Said Matt as he grabbed his reading glasses and put them on his face "Reading?" asked Sarah "Yes Princess, I do know how to read and I do it." said Matt "Let me see it." said Sarah "Why? Don't you believe me that it is a book?" asked Matt "Just let me see it." said Sarah "Okay." said Matt handing it to her "'A Tale Of Two Cities'" said Sarah reading the title "By Charles Dickens." said Matt taking it back "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. It was the age of wisdom. It was the age of foolishness." said Sarah "You know the book?" asked Matt "Yeah. I had to recite it for a class in high school." said Sarah "Impressive." said Matt "I'm not an airhead after all and you're not a blockhead as I thought." "This okay? Sarah?" asked Matt as he stopped the car and put the turn signal on to wait as a car was backing up. "Huh? I'm sorry." Said Sarah "I asked if this was too far for you to walk. I can go up further and steal a handicapped." Said Matt "No. No. This is okay." Said Sarah "Okay." Said Matt pulling into a parking space and turning off the ignition. "This is nice." Said Sarah "I'll come around to get you. Stay there." Said Matt "Okay." Said Sarah as Matt got out of the car and walked around to the back of it with his hand on his gun in the back of his jeans "Come on. Its safe." Said Matt opening her door "Okay." Said Sarah grabbing her purse as she looked at him with tears in her brown eyes "Hey. What's wrong?" asked Matt "Nothing." Said Sarah getting out "You're safe with me. I wouldn't let nothing or no one hurt you." Said Matt "I know." Said Sarah "I'm one of the best in my field. You can trust me." said Matt "No." said Sarah "What?" asked Matt "I don't trust you." Said Sarah "Oh." Said Matt lowering his head down "At least not yet." Said Sarah "Yeah." Said Matt looking up "Is it safe?" asked Sarah "Yeah. We can go in, but you need to listen to me. When I say move, you move and when I say for you to do something, you do it. No questions ask." Said Matt "Okay. I will." Said Sarah "I mean it." Said Matt shutting the door and pressing the button to lock it "I will. I promise." Said Sarah "One more thing if I ever have my hand on my back or I say that my back hurts." Said Matt "Yeah." Said Sarah "It doesn't mean anything, it just means that I'm weary about the people." Said Matt "At a grocery store?" asked Sarah "Anywhere. Are you ready?" asked Matt "Yeah." Said Sarah putting her purse strap on her shoulder "Give me your hand." Said Matt "Why?" asked Sarah "We are supposed to be pretending to be a couple and couples hold hands." Said Matt "Oh okay." Said Sarah putting her hand in his "It fits." Said Matt "Perfectly." Said Sarah "Yeah." Said Matt smiling "Getting back to what you were saying about putting your hand on your gun." Said Sarah "What about it?" asked Matt "I saw the guy and I know what he looks like. Granted I don't know where he is, but he shouldn't be anywhere near me." said Sarah "True, but in a lot of cases I worked in there's more then one person." Said Matt "Great. Give me something to worry about." Said Sarah as they walked hand in hand into the store "You can push the cart." Said Matt as she grabbed a cart "Okay." Said Sarah as she put her purse in the seat "No. Carry it." Said Matt "Okay." Said Sarah doing so "Thank you." Said Matt "Do you want any bread? French or garlic?" asked Sarah "We could get some. We might make some kind of pasta one night." Said Matt "Can you cook?" asked Sarah "Barely. Can you?" asked Matt "Barely." Said Sarah "I guess we'll learn together, Brown Eyes." Said Matt "Okay. What kind of lunch meat you want? I can make sandwiches." Said Sarah "Me too. I'll take turkey." Said Matt "Smoked or over roasted?" asked Sarah "It don't matter. You like hot dogs?" asked Matt "Yeah. Get the beef kind." Said Sarah "Okay." Said Matt picking up a pack and putting them in the cart "We need salad mix. Why don't you get some oranges, apples, bananas, and pears." suggested Sarah "Okay. Stay right here." said Matt "I will." said Sarah R&R

The steaks are too." said Matt "Get one. Oh wait, there's not a grill there." said Sarah "We could grill it on the stove. I can." said Matt picking up a package of raw meat and putting it in the cart "Okay." said Sarah "We could get chicken, if you like chicken." said Matt "I do." said Sarah "Why don't you go pick up the milk and juice you like, while I get the bacon, eggs, and butter." suggested Matt "Okay." said Sarah doing so "I need to get beer." said Matt "A twenty four pack?" asked Sarah "Hey. I don't know when I'll get back here." said Matt "Okay. I'm going to get some bottled water." said Sarah struggling to pick it up as Matt came around and took it from her "Thanks." said Sarah as she looked at him bending over to put the bottled water in the bottom of the cart "Do you want any frozen foods?" asked Matt "I'm not much of a frozen girl." said Sarah "No, you're more hot then frozen." said Matt winking at her as he followed her into the bread aisle "White or wheat bread?" asked Sarah "White." said Matt "Good choice." said Sarah picking up a loaf and some hot dogs and hamburger buns "Lets get some laundry soap." said Matt "Okay." said Sarah "Next aisle." said Matt following her as she pushes the cart "I don't think we need any sodas." said Sarah "No. Beer and water are plenty." said Matt "I need to go down this aisle." said Sarah referring to the feminine aisle "Okay. I'll stay here." said Matt "Oh. So, you're one of those guys." said Sarah "Excuse me?" asked Matt "The type of guy who wont even go near this aisle." said Sarah "So what. Hey, get me some condoms. Trojan. Ripped. Extra large." said Matt "Who are you planning on sleeping with?" asked Sarah "Forget it then." said Matt "Okay." said Sarah going down the aisle as Matt watches her "Are you checking out my ass, Matt?" asked Sarah turning around "No. You would know if I was checking out your ass." said Matt as Sarah laughed R&R

Four." said Matt "Anything else besides peanut butter, jelly, ketchup, mayo, salad dressing and pasta?" asked Sarah "No, but I need cigarettes." said Matt "Okay. How are we going to pay for all this?" asked Sarah "Oh. Charlie gave me a credit card. It has a limit on it, but if we need more, then Charlie can give us more." said Matt taking out his wallet and opening it "Who is that?" asked Sarah referring to a little picture of a baby with big blue eyes "My daughter." said Matt "She's beautiful. What's her name?" asked Sarah "Susanna." said Matt quickly closing his wallet "How old is she?" asked Sarah "I don't know." said Matt "How come you don't know how old she is?" asked Sarah "Just forget it. Only the man in the moon shown through the window as Sarah tossed and turned. "No. Please don't hurt me. No. Please don't." cried Sarah as she tossed and turned. Meanwhile, Matt kicked off the sheets that covered his naked form, swinging his feet onto the cold hard wood floor, he reached for his navy blue boxers. Quickly putting them on, he grabbed the nine millimeter gun off of his nightstand and left the room. The sound of his bare feet padding the floor was the only thing he could hear, until he got to Sarah's bedroom door. He heard crying. Opening the door with one hand and pointing his gun in front of him, Matt walked in slowly to see no one in the room, but Sarah who was tossing and turning as she cried. "Sarah." said Matt quietly as he gently sat on the bed "Oh my God!" cried Sarah as she sat up in bed "Sarah?" asked Matt "Oh Matt." said Sarah plunging into his chest and holding onto him for dear life as she cried. "Shh. Its all right. It was just a dream." said Matt putting down his gun and holding her "No." said Sarah "Yes it was." said Matt "No. It was real." said Sarah "How can it be real? There's no one here." said Matt "It was real. He was here." said Sarah "Who's he?" asked Matt "The guy." said Sarah "What's his name?" asked Matt "I cant say." said Sarah "In the burro, we have nicknames for the criminals, was his name Pete?" asked Matt "No." said Sarah "Well, then we'll call him Pete." said Matt "Okay." said Sarah sniffling "Pete was not here, Brown Eyes." said Matt "Yes he was." said Sarah "That's impossible. There's no way he could be here. All the windows and doors are locked. I promise you. I checked them myself." said Matt "I'm not crazy, Matt. I know he was here." said Sarah "You were dreaming." said Matt as he looking into Sarah's brown, teary, pleading eyes "Okay. Okay. Turn on the light. I'll go look around." said Matt getting up and grabbing his gun "Okay." said Sarah doing so as she realized her gown was lopsided then she grabbed the pillow and hugged to her chest. Matt checked the windows and doors with his gun in front of him "All the windows and doors in this place are locked. I'll check your closet and under your bed." said Matt "Thanks Matt." said Sarah hugging her pillow more as she saw a pale pink scar about two to four inches on his chest above his heart. "Everything is clear. Pete was nowhere to be found." Said Matt "Maybe I was dreaming." Said Sarah "I think you were." Said Matt sitting down on the bed "It felt so real." Said Sarah "I bet it did. I mean, you went through an ordeal. But you are safe with me." said Matt pulling her into his arms "I know." Said Sarah "Good." Said Matt "Matt?" asked Sarah "Yeah." Said Matt "Where did you get this scar?" asked Sarah gently stroking it with her finger "Oh. Nowhere." Said Matt "Were you shot?" asked Sarah "No." said Matt "Were you stabbed?" asked Sarah "No." said Matt "Then what happened?" asked Sarah "I'll tell you one day when I'm not so tired." Said Matt getting up "Matt?" asked Sarah "Yeah." Said Matt "Will you stay with me? At least until I fall asleep." Said Sarah "Sure." Said Matt "Thank you." Said Sarah as she moved over and he got in R&R
