"Thanks very much." Said Shawn slamming down the phone as he sat on the couch looking through a North Carolina phone book while Issie read a wrestling magazine "What? Everyone to busy to work on your truck?" asked Issie "No. Just too expensive." Said Shawn "Oh." Said Issie as the door opened and in walked Bill "Son, what happened to your truck?" asked Bill "Iss and I had a little accident." Said Shawn "Are you two okay?" asked Bill "Yeah we're fine." Said Shawn "Thanks for asking." Said Issie "Why didn't you just take it to Gary and then walk home?" asked Bill "I tried that. He said he was too busy." Said Shawn "And yet he had only one car in his garage. Yeah right busy. Busy picking his nose." Said Issie "Yeah." Said Shawn agreeing with her "Well, why don't you and I work on sanding it out tomorrow?" asked Bill "Okay." Said Shawn "Why aren't you getting ready for the game?" asked Bill "That's another thing, Dad, Coach Ford benched me for the rest of the season." Said Shawn "Why?" asked Bill "Because I got her pregnant." Said Shawn "That's not right, Son." Said Bill "No duh Dad." Said Shawn "Tell him what else your coach said." Said Issie "He praised me before he said why he was benching me." said Shawn "That doesn't sound right." Said Bill "Exactly. Something don't add up either." Said Shawn "Well, that's his loss. Chapter 35
Two weeks later Issie walked up to Shawn, who was closing his locker "Ready to go?" asked Issie "Almost I just have to go by Mr. Lackey's office to see if my request for a scholarship has gone through yet." Said Shawn "Why do you need a scholarship for? Your parents are loaded with money." Said Issie "My dad's company is giving me a scholarship." Said Shawn "Ooh. The great and powerful sock company is paying your college. I'll be lucky if I go to college." Said Issie "You never know. You could get a scholarship too." Said Shawn as they started to walk toward the Principal's office "Yeah right Shawn. How? I don't play sports. I defiantly don't participate in after school programs." Said Issie "Okay." Said Shawn opening the door for her. "Hey Mrs. Porow" Said Shawn to the secretary "Hey Shawn." Said Mrs. Porow "Is Mr. Lackey in his office?" asked Shawn "Yes. Go on in." said Mrs. Porow "You coming?" asked Shawn looking at Issie "No. I don't want to be in the principal's office when I don't have to be." Said Issie "Okay. Here." Said Shawn handing her his book bag "Okay. Fine." Said Issie sitting down in the chair as Shawn knocked on the door and walked in "Mr. Hart, come in and have a seat." Said Mr. Lackey "Thanks Sir." Said Shawn sitting down "What can I help you with today, Mr. Hart?" asked Mr. Lackey "Well Sir, I was wondering if my scholarship has been approved by my father's company Hart Cotton Wear." Said Shawn "Good that you asked, cause I just got a call about that today." Said Mr. Lackey "Yes Sir." Said Shawn waiting patiently for the older man to continue "I'm sorry to say that they have changed their minds about the scholarship." Said Mr. Lackey "But my dad said I was going to get it." Said Shawn "I'm sorry." Said Mr. Lackey "Do you know why?" asked Shawn "Son, I don't think I'm at liberty to say." Said Mr. Lackey "Sir, I want to know." Said Shawn "People don't want you to have it, cause you're going to be a father." Said Mr. Lackey "Jesus, why is it sleeping with someone and getting them pregnant such a crime? Why am I getting punished? First Coach benches me and now I don't get my scholarship. Did you get punished for sleeping with someone? No. So why am I?" asked Shawn "Son, I think you better get out of my office now." Said Mr. Lackey "Yeah I'm going." Said Shawn getting up and opening the door to find Issie standing there with tears in her eyes. R&R |

CHapter 36
Almost a month later Thanksgiving Day Issie pushed Shawn's arm off of her one morning as she got up and bolted for the bathroom "Iss?" asked Shawn opening his eyes as Issie went into the bathroom "Not again." Said Shawn getting up and going into the bathroom without putting pants on "Poor Isabelle. This morning sickness has really taken a toll on her." Said Holly "It has Shawn too. He feels like he should get up with her too." Said Bill "I know. Which is the right thing to do because he is the father. You got up with me when I was carrying Shawn." Said Holly getting out a box of crackers "What are you doing?" asked Bill "I'm going to take these crackers up to Isabelle and make sure she is okay before I start Thanksgiving dinner." Said Holly "Okay." Said Bill "Are you feeling better now?" asked Shawn as they sat on the floor against the wall facing each other. "Yeah. You don't have to get up with me." said Issie "Yes I do. I'm the father." Said Shawn "No you're not. The old bastard who raped me is." Said Issie "Iss, I did say that I'm going to be the father and one thing a father does is get up with the mother so she can throw up. At least I think that's what the guys does. Take care of the mother and that is you." Said Shawn "I'm not a mother." Said Issie "Yes you are and you're going to be a good one." Said Shawn "No I'm not." Said Issie "Why do you say that?" asked Shawn "Because I don't know how to be one." Said Issie "Because of your own mother?" asked Shawn "Yes." Said Issie "Well all you have to do is take a look at my mom. She's old, but she's a good mom." Said Shawn "Yes she is." Said Issie "I think you'll be a good mother to our baby. Just like I think I'll be a good father to our baby." Said Shawn putting his hand on her swollen stomach as she looked down at his hand "Sorry. I know you don't like to be touched." Said Shawn "Its okay. You can." Said Issie as Shawn nodded "You okay now?" asked Shawn "Yeah. Ew Shawn." Said Issie covering her eyes and laughing. "What?" asked Shawn "I can see your grump worm." Said Issie laughing "Sorry." Said Shawn laughing "Are you ready to get up?" asked Shawn "Yeah." Said Issie "Okay." Said Shawn as he helped her up and Holly walks away quickly from the door and out of the bathroom R&R |

Chapter 37
Later that afternoon Shawn and Issie were watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as they did tradtionally did every year "Don't eat a whole lot of snack food. Dinner is in a couple of hours." Said Holly "Mom, Iss is eating for two now and I'm helping her." Said Shawn "Well, try to save room for my cooking." Said Holly as she went back into the kitchen "Who's all coming?" asked Issie as she took a sip of water "Just the four of us and my Grandma too. But I think she will be coming after they play Turkey Bingo at the home." Said Shawn "What?" asked Issie "Turkey Bingo. Grandma said it was like regular bingo, but its got turkey shapes instead of circles. She's real excited about it." Said Shawn "Okay." Said Issie as tears came to her eyes "You okay?" asked Shawn "Yeah. Just I wish my family was like yours." Said Issie "I know, but we're your family now, Iss." Said Shawn "Really?" asked Issie "Really." Said Shawn reaching over and kissing her forehead "Thanks Shawn. For everything." Said Issie "No problem." Said Shawn R&R |

An hour later, Bill appeared in the living room "Son, are you hungry?" asked Bill "Why? Are we eating now?" asked Shawn "Yeah, but your mother and I were wondering if you're hungry since you have eaten nonstop since breakfast." Said Bill "Hey Dad, I'm a growing boy and plus Issie has to eat for two now and I'm doing it with her." Said Shawn "Hey, Don't drag me into this. I haven't been eating like you have." Said Issie "Well, come on you two. Lets eat." Said Bill "Okay." Said Shawn as he and Issie got up "Hello? Anyone home? Its Turkey Day" said Helen, Shawn's grandmother, opening the door and walking in "Hey Grandma." Said Shawn walking up to her and hugging her "Hey Sweetie." Said Helen "How was Turkey Bingo?" asked Shawn helping her with her coat "Oh! Wonderful! I won a hundred dollars and the turkeys were so cute. Have you ate yet?" asked Helen "No. We were just about to sit down." Said Shawn "Oh okay. Hello Dear. My have you grown." Said Helen hugging Issie "Hello Mrs. Hart." Said Issie hugging her "Oh Dear. Please call me Helen. How's my great grandchild doing?" asked Helen "Good." Said Issie "Now listen to me, you don't worry what everyone in this town says because you are a very nice person who doesn't need this stress on you." Said Helen "Thank you." Said Issie "And you let my grandson ravish you during this pregnancy." Said Helen "Yes Mamm." Said Issie "Mom? Welcome. You're just in time for dinner." Said Bill "Oh William, I was just telling Shawn and his girlfriend that I won a hundred dollars." Said Helen as Bill escorts her into the dining room followed by Shawn and Issie R&R |

During dinner. "This is wonderful, Holly." Said Issie as she whipped her mouth with her napkin "Thank you." Said Holly "Now Dear, you must make sure you eat your fruits and vegetables everyday." Said Helen "Yes Mamm." Said Issie "It would make the baby healthy." Said Helen "Yes Mamm. We know." Said Issie "Mom, are you going shopping tomorrow?" asked Shawn "Yes. Infact Isabelle, you are more then welcome to come. I could buy you some maternity clothes or you can start buying for the baby." Said Holly "Oh um, I don't know. I was planning on wearing Shawn's clothes when I get bigger." Said Issie "Well, you're more then welcome to join me whenever you want to go shopping." Said Holly "I'll think about it. Thank you." A couple of days later Shawn walked into the living room holding pieces of paper one night. "Mom?" asked Shawn "Hmm?" asked Holly looking up from the newspaper she was reading "I want to show you what I want to get Issie for Christmas while she is in the shower." Said Shawn "What?" asked Holly putting down the paper "This." Said Shawn showing her the pieces of paper in his hand "Oh. Wow." Said Holly "Do you think she'll like it? It will probably by the first baby gift she will get from me." said Shawn "I think she'll love it." Said Holly "Do you think its too much?" asked Shawn "What do you mean? Coat wise?" asked Holly "Yeah." Said Shawn "Well, Honey, that is up to you. You're paying for it." Said Holly "Okay. Do you think it will be here before Christmas?" asked Shawn "Yes." Chapter 41
Three weeks later One afternoon after school Shawn walked through the empty hallway toward his locker. "Oh my God." Said Shawn stopping as the words 'Get Out Of Own Town, You Fornicator' written in black on his locker "What the hell?" asked Shawn as he opened his locker and a folded up note dropped out. Shawn bent down and picked it up. Opening the note it said, 'We don't want you in our town, if you are going to have a kid out of wedlock.' Crumpling it up and shoving it in his book bag as he starts to clean out his locker before he left for Christmas vacation. Meanwhile dressed in black overalls and a black sweater over it to cover her growing stomach the best way she could, Issie was walking down the hallway toward the front of the school to go home. "Hey Isabelle. How's it going?" asked a guy named Paul on the football team with Shawn as Issie kept on walking "Hey! He asked you a question." Said Angie, Paul's girlfriend "And you're going to answer him." Said Steve, another football player "Leave me the fuck alone." Said Issie as she kept on walking "What did you say, you fornicator?" asked Paul "You heard me. I said leave me alone." Said Issie "Where you going?" asked Angie "Nowhere you aint." Said Issie "Oh yeah. Why don't you get out of this town, you freak?" asked Steve as Issie kept on walking "Hey! You need to get out of this town." Said Paul "Yeah. No one wants you here, you freak." Said Angie as all three of them cornered her "Leave me alone." Said Issie "Or what?" asked Paul "You see for twelve years you have been all talk and no bite. Now you're going to get what is coming to you." Said Steve as he pushed her into the lockers "What are you going to do now, Isabelle? You disgusting bitch. You whore." Said Paul "Are you going to cry?" asked Angie as Issie whines her face in pain "Hey! Leave her alone." Said Nicole running up "Come on Nicole. We are going to hit her for you." Said Steve "Paul, Angie, Steve, you three go on home. I'll take it from here." Said Nicole "Are you sure?" asked Steve "Yeah. Go on. I'll handle Isabelle." Said Nicole "Okay." Said Angie as she and the two football jocks walked off "Are you okay?" asked Nicole turning around to see Issie start to cry "Just hit me and get it over with." Said Issie "I'm not going to hurt you. I should, but it's not going to do me any good, if I did hit you, you'll still be pregnant with Shawn's child." Said Nicole "Yeah." Said Issie crying "So, are you okay?" asked Nicole "Yeah." Said Issie whipping her nose on her sleeve "I'll go find Shawn for you." Said Nicole "Okay." Said Issie crying as she slides down the lockers and sits on the floor R&R |

Shawn was standing at his locker, stuff books, clothing, and papers into his book bag "Shawn?" asked Nicole running up "Hey Nicole." Said Shawn "Come on." Said Nicole pulling on his shirtsleeve "What?" asked Shawn "Its Isabelle." Said Nicole "Issie? What happened?" asked Shawn as he dropped his book bag and followed Nicole through the hallways Issie sat on the floor hugging herself and crying so hard she was trembling. "Issie, you okay?" asked Shawn running up to her and kneeling down in front of her "Yeah." Said Issie "What happened?" asked Shawn looking up at Nicole "A couple of kids terrorist her and pushed her into the lockers." Said Nicole "Okay." Said Shawn "I swear to God, Shawn, I didn't tell them to do anything. I swear." Said Nicole "Okay. Iss, are you hurt anywhere? They didn't touch the baby, did they?" asked Shawn "No." said Issie "Are you sure?" asked Shawn "Yes." Said Issie sitting there with her knees to her chest looking like a frightened child "Lets gets you out of here." Said Shawn "Okay." Said Issie as Shawn puts her arms around his neck and picks her up "Come on." Said Shawn as Issie lays her head on his shoulder and silently cries Shawn walked out the doors, leading to the Senior Parking Lot. "Its going to be okay, Iss." Said Shawn as Issie cried. Shawn stopped walking and nearly dropped Issie on the ground as he saw his truck. The word 'Fornicator' was written on his truck at least ten times all over. Front, back, and sides. In black, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The words stuck out like a NASCAR driver rapping. It just doesn't fit. "Oh my God." Said Issie "My truck! Look at what they done to it." Said Shawn "Lets get out of here." Said Issie "Okay." Said Shawn R&R |

Fifteen minutes later Bill and Holly both walked in together. "Isabelle. Sweetie, are you okay?" asked Holly walking over to the couch "Yes I'm fine." Said Issie "Who has been doing this, Son?" asked Bill "I don't know Dad, but I suspect the whole school." Said Shawn "Who were the kids that attacked you?" asked Bill "Two football players and a cheerleader, but I don't see the big deal in all this. They didn't hurt me to bad and they didn't hurt the baby." Said Issie "But this has got to stop. Why are they doing this Dad?" asked Shawn "I don't know Son." Said Bill "First they benched me, then Gary refuses to fix my truck, then I lose my scholarship and now someone has vandalize my truck, not to mention that they hurt Issie and the notes." Said Shawn "What notes?" asked Holly "I got this note that fell out of my locker today." Said Shawn pulling the crumpled paper out of his back of his jean and hands it to Holly "These are almost like the ones we been getting." Said Holly "What do you mean, Mom?" asked Shawn "Son, we been getting notes in the mail nearly everyday. In other places too." Said Bill "What have they been saying?" asked Shawn "Its not important anymore, Honey." Said Holly "The hell it doesn't Mom. This God awful town wants me gone. Just because of one night and Iss and I are paying for it now." Said Shawn "This is all my fault." Said Issie standing up quickly and started to cry "No its not Sweetie." Said Holly "If you would have let me get rid of it when I wanted too, you would still have everything." Said Issie crying "No. I couldn't let you live with that for the rest of your life." Said Shawn walking towards her "I just wish that night never happened." Said Issie crying on his shoulder "I know. Me too, but it did happen." Said Shawn gently rubbing her back "I'm sorry I let you involved in all this." Said Issie "I'm not. And we are going to get through this." Said Shawn "Okay. But what are we going to do?" asked Issie "I don't know, but we have to do something before you or the baby gets really hurt." Said Shawn "Yeah." Said Issie "What do you think we should do, Dad?" asked Shawn "What do you want to do, Son?" asked Bill "I don't know." Said Shawn "Think and want are two different things, Honey." Said Holly "I know. I don't want to leave this town like they want me too." Said Shawn "Speak for yourself." Said Issie "I don't think they should run us out of town because of what we did one night." Said Shawn "I know, Sweetie, but I think they are." Said Holly "I don't understand anything anymore. Everyone in this town has had sex and has had a kid, so why am I the one being punished?" asked Shawn "Because you are the star of the football team and everybody thinks that if you make it big then this shitty town will finally be on the map. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I see it." Said Issie "You might be right. Mom, would it make a difference if Iss and I got married? I mean its what everyone wants." Said Shawn "I don't know, Sweetie." Said Holly "It couldn't hurt, Mom. Iss and I can elope tonight." Said Shawn "I'm not marrying you." Said Issie "If it helps us get back with the good graces of this town, then I say yes we should get married." Said Shawn "I think we shouldn't." said Issie "You forgetting one thing, Son." Said Bill "What?" asked Shawn "Issabelle's underage. You'll have to get her parents permission first." Said Bill "Well then we're back to square one now." Said Shawn sitting down R&R |
