your biological parents/family history -- have you wanted or tried to find out where you come from?

i grew up w/o my bio father and as much as i want to know about my history, i'm also scared of what the outcome will be. i'm sure i have a lot of family and i'd like to connect with them but i just don't know were to start. every year i go back and forth on wanting to tie up some loose ends but i know it'll be very emotional and i'll have to hear some things that i don't want to hear.

any advice, comments, suggestions?
