Ugh! OU is ahead of Texas in the Coaches poll by 1 vote.

I'm interested to see how OU or Texas would look against a SEC defense. That quarterback on OU looks kind of puny.

If Oklahoma were to be upset by Missouri in the Big 12 Championship Game, then the Texas Longhorns would go to the National Championship Game.
There's also a weird but unlikely possibility if Florida beats Alabama in the SEC championship and Oklahoma beats Missouri in the Big 12 Championship, in which Oklahoma could play Texas in the National Championship Game, as the number one versus number two ranked teams in the BCS rankings... By the way, I doubt either Florida or Alabama can beat the top four teams from the Big 12, much less Texas or Oklahoma, but to each their own with their opinion. All I can hope for as a Longhorns fan... Either a Missouri win over Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship Game, or a Florida win over Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, or both just for the heck of it! |

If Florida wins the SEC championship they will go to the NCG.

The TV said that the winner of the Big 12 championship game would play the SEC winner in the championship game. Surely that doesn't mean that Missouri
would go if they win.

The thing people fail to realize is the Conference Championship games do indeed factor into the BCS rankings that determine the BCS National Championship Game
( Number one versus Number two ).
People assume the BCS rankings are set in stone just because the season is over and some conferences don't even have a conference championship game. I have news for those people who think the Texas Longhorns aren't going to be in the National Championship Game... It's not a guarantee just yet. The Longhorns are very much alive for the National Championship. Not playing in the Big 12 Championship game means little to me. All I care about is watching the Texas Longhorns playing in the National Championship game! |

It will be the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever seen if two teams from the same conference are in the National Championship Game. It won't happen.

Sunshine4 wrote:Sunshine, Nebraska did it in 2001. I believe Oklahoma did it in 2003. It's happened before, when a Big 12 team didn't even play in the Big 12 Championship Game, but still made it to the National Championship Game. In fact, I was at that Texas versus Colorado Big 12 Championship Game in 2001. I was in attendance wearing my Longhorns jersey and cap. Colorado won that Big 12 Championship Game and crushed my heart. And yet, Nebraska ended up going to the National Championship that year only to be embarrassed by the Miami Hurricanes. It doesn't make sense, I agree... But it's the way the BCS system works. All I'm saying is this... The Texas Longhorns still have a chance to play in the National Championship Game. That's all I care about! Hook 'Em Horns! And good luck to Oklahoma and Missouri in the Big 12 Championship Game! Good luck to Florida versus Alabama in the SEC Championship Game! There's also a possibility in which Florida beats Alabama in the SEC Championship game, Oklahoma beats Missouri in the Big 12 Championship, and let's say Florida beats Oklahoma in the National Championship Game, in which Texas as a BCS bowl winner ( winning the Fiesta Bowl let's say ), would still be claimed as "Co National Champions" along with the Florida Gators. Co National Champions does indeed exist also, a la USC and LSU back in 2004 or so... I can't recall the year off the top of my head. Either way, the Texas Longhorns are in good shape as long as Florida beats Alabama in the SEC Championship, or if Missouri beats Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, or if Florida beats Alabama and Oklahoma ( in the National Championship ). Bottom Line: The Texas Longhorns have a few different scenarios in which they can become National Champions, even if they don't even make it to the National Championship Game but odds are, they still have a good chance to make it to the National Championship Game. It's confusing, LOL but that's the BCS for you! |

That very thing happened to USC and LSU back in 2003, LOL.
LSU defeated Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl to claim the BCS national championship, but USC wound up with The Associated Press version of the championship with its victory against Michigan in the Rose Bowl. In that case, both LSU and USC were named Co National Champions. This very thing may happen between Florida and Texas if the cards play out the right way... Florida would have to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship. Oklahoma would have to beat Missouri in the Big 12 Championship, and then Florida would have to beat Oklahoma in the National Championship Game, with Texas winning the Fiesta Bowl against whichever team. In that case, Texas may wind up ranked number one in the polls! It's confusing, but I'd rather see Missouri upset Oklahoma and that way the Texas Longhorns will play the winner of the Florida-Alabama game in the National Championship! |

You can avoid all of the complications if you just had a playoff system!

Texas isn't playing in it's conference title game. They shouldn't be national champions. They definitely wouldn't be co- national champions.

Hey, did my Boise State versus Oklahoma video from the 2006 Fiesta Bowl show?
I tried to embed it, but my computer froze. I think it sent... Wishful, you make a great point but the way the BCS is set up right now, you don't need to play in your Conference Championship game to play in the National Championship Game. But to further illustrate the point... Texas beat both Oklahoma and Missouri by double-digit points, and it's totally unfair for Texas not to be playing in the Big 12 Championship Game despite a one-loss season, when they spanked both teams in the Conference Championship Game! Texas only loss was a nailbiter at Texas Tech. Had Oklahoma played at Texas Tech, me thinks it's also a close game. Oklahoma is freakishly amazing at home... But booyah, Texas may play in the National Championship Game! We'll find out next weekend!

This whole BCS nonsense makes me angry. And I think that TX has every right to play in a NCG because we finished with the same record as OU and we beat them!
It pisses me off that the commentators say that the win was too long ago. It shouldn't matter if we beat OU in week 1 or week 10. The entire season needs
to be taken into account.
