It amazes me how often people come up to me and fucking ask me to fax something. They'll even write out the cover page but somehow it takes too much
effort to dial the number. The thing is that I do clerical work but I'm not even the official secretary. I have my own work to do that doesn't include
bitch work. I'm just not made to work in a job like this. It doesn't help that I resent being here because they moved people around and took me away
from my other position.
I feel bitchy.
Why can't people fax their own shit?

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I feel like people ask me to do things just to remind themselves they're important or something

i think i'm quite the smart guy (technologically) but sometimes i can't figure those damn machines out. do i have to dial 9 first? do i have to put the
area code and 9 or just the 9 and no area code? well what about the 1 before the area code??? does the paper go face down or face up? i'm just a big
confused mess.
i still do it myself but i might ask for a little help from a more seasoned user of that machine. or i'll scan it and email it. i can handle that just fine. |

I always get my secretary or receptionist to send faxes for me.
So... there might be a good reason why someone is asking you. Of course, they might all just be lazy toerags but I'm just trying to give you the other perspective. |

My favorite is when someone needs a pen, sticky note, copy paper. etc.. and before they even look they ask me where it is. Open the damn cabinet and look!
LAZY!

It took me 15 minutes to figure out the fax at work because some lady finally got up to help me

These people have been here for years and it's just one fax! I could understand what you're saying because I never know either, but they know. I feel
like they think it's beneath them.

If it's not Rosie's job and she has other stuff to do, then they either need to ask for someone to be hired to help them or they need to do it themselves. Even if they have a higher title, she still has her own responsibilites. |

Yes! If I was hired as a secretary, I could understand it more. It pisses me off that between my own work I'm told to do things like faxing and writing out
envelopes.
