I was just informed its illegal to graduate early in Indiana. WTF! I was planning on graduating this year, and I think I should be allowed too. I'll only
be a month shy of being 18!

I had quite a few people in my grade graduate in December rather than May. Are you hoping to graduate before your senior year even starts, or...?

Are you sure whoever gave you this information wasn't just being a dipshit? That sounds like a weird law.

Oh. I don't know if you can do that. I'd look at the state's website, but why would you want to skip your senior year anyways?

Because I'd be taking one class, and why should my mom pay $4500 for that? And plus i hate school, and want to be done.

I would check with more than one person or find the law in writing elsewhere before you believe that.

How could you only be taking one class? I don't understand that.

hjames scott wrote:Because I already have 30 credits and that was at the end of last year. I only need *1 Math Credit (Getting that this semester) *3 English Credits (I can finish those all this year, I took 3 last year fine) *2 Science Credits (Taking that, will be finished) * 2 Social Studies (Taking those) * 2 PE Credits And maybe like, 1 Elective, and I'm taking Leadership (1 credit), Art (1 Credit), and Work Study (2 Credits) this semester as well. |

Those are some really strange requirements.

That's weird if that law is accurate. I live in Ohio, and had quite a few friends graduate at the end of our junior year. They just had to get special
permission and take two correspondence courses for their fourth English credit and their government credit.

Man, Indiana has an extremely easy curriculum compared to NY.

For sure. And my school is work at your own pace. I earned like 20 credits last year, and finished a month early.

Um. This school sounds bizarre.
You should be able to graduate early. Talk to your counselor, because your teacher doesn't seem informed about what's actually accepted. |

Are you serious? My sister will be 17 when she graduates high school (her birthday is the first week in August) and my mother went to college at 17 - as her
birthday is in September, so she was 17 for the first month of college.
But, here in high school classes are normally all year long (some electives are a semester, but then you have to choose another semester elective)- not just a semester, so if you're graduating - you graduate in June. |

I'm so confused.....I know we were allowed to graduate a semester early but I've never heard about a year early.

Well, if I'm reading your curriculum correctly, each credit is a year? In NY, we had to take 3 years of math, 4 years of English, 4 years of social
studies, 3 years of science, all 4 years of PE, and a bunch of electives. And of course, we had to pass all of our Regents exams.
