Posts: 3577 (08/24/2008 10:50 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore	that, especially of late, I think it highly improbable that I'd be more than casual acquiantances with high school or community college educated folks. I don't know what's happened to me, but unless I find the person intelligent, worldly, or witty, I am immediately bored (this includes college educated people). I've noticed I hold uninformed or uncreative people in contempt. Ex.: my roommate said "who is this Joseph R. BEEDEN guy?!" and it took all my will power not to roll my eyes. I don't know if it's just desiring a certain class/type of person, or if it's snobbery. Anyone with me on this? EEPS.

Some of the most engaging, smart people I know just have a high school degree. I am bored by people who are stupid (for lack of a better term-there are different types of intelligence) but I know people who have a doctorate that are dumb and ignorant and people who have a high school diploma that can run circles around me.

I don't totally write people off when they aren't educated, but I don't interact well with people who don't have at least moderate intelligence. I don't have the patience for anything less. That said, intelligence is not based on how much formal education someone has had. I think most people gravitate toward people who are like them in that respect. Most of my friends are on the same level as I am as far as intelligence levels. I think that is pretty normal and is basic human nature.

I think higher education entirely changes people's mindsets. That's why the distinction. Not that the degree itself matters, but it usually signifies a different type of person. NOT ALWAYS, because some college educated people are, well, not enlightened at all.

I went to a college prep high school and will have a college degree, but quite a few of my friends and family members didn't get one and I can't imagine looking down on them for it. I get to know a person before I judge their intelligence.
