I'm glad I'm not from somewhere else.

The Olympics always give me such pride in this country, as fucked up as we are.

I'd feel safe in the Caymans! Or Tahiti! No one hates them!

I feel the exact same way. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way about their own countries so I don't think it's weird.

I'm not trying to knock what you're saying but there are plenty of countries out there that are safe, nice, good quality of life, etc. Sometimes it
feels like people in the US think the only alternative to living in America is living in Baghdad or something.

If I grew up in a different country, I'd probably think that country was the safest and couldn't imagine myself elsewhere too. *shrug* But I've
never lived anywhere except the US so I can't compare it to other countries.

I felt safe in London, even after someone tried to blow up Picadilly.

I think Dylan knows that other countries are safe.
The point is, your home is your home. Of course you'll naturally feel safer at home than you would elsewhere. Unless of course, your home IS Baghdad. |

If I didn't live in the US, I'd probably hate it because I was jealous. I'd call it overrated. It's like when I was a Justin teeny and hated
Britney Spears with my whole being, and found every possible thing wrong with her, but really, in truth, I was just jealous. If I could have been Britney
Spears, I probably would have been.
I think I'd love Spain, though. But I think I couldn't ever really leave America completely. It's just too wonderful, all in all. The possibilities are endless.

I know other countries are safe, but I hate when Americans act like America is the worst country in the world and the day they can escape will be their
happiest and they would rather live ANYWHERE else. I think Americans forget how good we do have it sometimes compared to other countries.
Personally, if I moved outside of America it would be Canada |

Having spent 4 years in Japan, I'd rather live there than here any day!

Yeah I agree. I'm from Canada and I feel very fortunate to have been born in North America. Even though I'd like to travel I can't really imagine
living anywhere but here or the U.S.

No country is perfect. The US certainly has its major flaws, but so do all countries. The great thing about being an American is that if you don't like
where we're headed, you can speak up. And if you are still unsatisfied, you can up and move to Canada, or wherever else you desire and nobody can stop you.
We take a lot of things for granted that people in other countries would literally die for, so that their children could have just some of the freedoms we've had our entire lives. So we're not 100% safe--no place is--but it's a pretty damn good place to be regardless. |

It's pretty sad I can't think of a safer/better place to have been born.
I mean, give us a few years, we're already going down, we just haven't hit rock bottom yet. |

I'd personally rather just not hit bottom, but that's just me apparently.
