What is your opinion on refurbished computers? More specifically laptop computers. I thought about getting a MAC because they are a little cheaper than the
ones you buy online or at the store, but I am a little scared. I know they were once computers that bad and they fixed them and then they resell them. But what
happends if that computer breaks down again. Does that mean I just wasted $3,000? (or so). I LOVE MAC's but they are so expensive so my instructor is
telling me to get a refurb one. I am really weary about getting one. Any opinions?

I bought a refurbished Dell and I think it was worth every penny. I got a great laptop at an awesome price. It came with the same warranty that the new ones
come with and I was able to buy extended care for it.
That is my experience with Dell though, Idk about Macs so I'm probably not much help lol |

What refurbished Mac costs $3000+?
Anyway they all come with a 1 year warranty and so you're good. |

I'm pretty sure you can get the 3 year warranty with refurb Macs. I think you should definitely go for it.

You can, as long as you get it before the 1 year is up.

oops I forgot to mention, $3000 for a new computer. I meant to say about 1-2000 for a referb. Sorry! I was trying to say/compare it to a
brand new one to a refurbished one and had a typo! I ment to say about $3000 for a new one because that is about average price with tax and all. I am
sure you can get a tiny one for about $2000 but I am wanting at least a 17 or 19 inch monitor. I am a graphic designer and I would love to hav a bigger screen
so I can see my stuff a little closer rather than putting my face on the screen. lol But yeah, I forgot to mention $3000 for a NEW one. lol my bad!

The most expensive refurbished notebook is the MacBook Pro 17" at $2,699.00.

Personally, I would never do it. The difference in price is not enough for me to not just cough up the difference and get a brand new one.
Basically, if I'm going to buy something at an expensive price anyway, I want it to be the best it can be and brand new. |

LOL my whole point of this post was, what is your opinion on a refurbished computer compared to a new one. (maybe i shouldnt have added the pricing in there. I
think I just got everyonce confused and myself. I tend to do that from time to time.

First of all, I dont want to have to ship my computer in to fix it. My friend had to do that before we had a mac store in town and it took her about 2 months before she got her computer back. But my main thing is about the warrenty. I am so technologically behind. The "newest" computer I have is in 2000 and laptops are a whole new thing to me. But yeah, if I am going to be spending a LOT of money, I want it to work for a long time. Just like a car. I dont want it to break down within a few months that I get it. It does tend to happen, but my point is, I want to thing to work. Refurbished computers basically means that the computer has been restored. Like someone owned it before and it broke down, so they fixed it and now are reselling it. Right? lol I am so confused! |

Even $1000-$2000 for a refurb is expensive to me. I think if you're going to be spending that much, you might as well just buy new.

PS: I have never owned a refurb, so I can't really say how they work. But I know I wouldn't spend anywhere near $1000 on one.

People seem to like refurbished. You're the only one who can make the decision though. If I were to get a MacBook Pro (I wish) I would get a refurbished because $300-$400 is a big difference to me. A couple refurbished MacBook Pros are actually $900 less! |

If you're going to be spending a couple thousand anyway, you might feel better knowing you're getting something brand new. That way, there is no
question about the warranty, any damage, etc. Refurbished means it's been fixed up and whatnot, but it's still a used product and so there is still the
possibility that you are getting something that is notsogreat. But that's just me. I'm not comfortable with the idea of purchasing a refurbished
product of any sort. But I'm also very anal about my stuff and I realize not everyone shares those feelings. |

Refurbished come with the same exact warranty as the new ones. I understand some people don't like buying used though. I would only do it if for some
reason I needed a MacBook Pro because they are insanely expensive.

To me its like a gently used car. Someone else worked out the kinks for ya, just make sure you have the warranty. Because brand new computers aren't
infallible.

Oh, do they? That's good at least!
Yeah. I still wouldn't be able to do that. But like I said, most people aren't nearly as anal as I am so my opinion could be completely irrelevant. |
