I've refused to do something because I didn't think it was right, but I never walked off.
I worked in a meat factory. There were a bunch of hanging salami, that needed to be stripped of the peel it comes in and then packaged to go to the store. We have people that stripped them and then it goes through a machine to package them. Well, the day they were stripped the machine wasn't working, so they put the salami in tubs and put them in the cooler to be packaged later. A week or so later, they found the salami and it still hadn't been packaged. By this time mold had grown on it. Our foremans told us to wipe down the salami to get off the mold and package it. I refused. |

I haven't but we've had 3 girls at work just walk off.
One went to her car to get her cell phone on our busiest day (she'd only been there like an hour or something) and she never came back. One girl left one night and never returned. She said she'd be there in the morning when she was walking off and yup, never returned. We tried calling her the next day too (our busiest day) and she never called. We even contacted her mom, her mom didn't answer either. And then we had another girl go on lunch break and never return. Turns out she actually had another job interview during lunch and she took that job instead. |

I didn't walk out walk out. But I was working with kids and there was this girl who had a name like Mackenna and I said Anna instead of Enna in class.
Well my boss comes into the gym, and there was a glass window and walks up to me saying "you messed up this girls name. You start calling her the right name." Now the girl was answering to it just fine. I was so pissed off because if you don't like the name don't name her something similar and there was NO reason to do that in front of people. I gave my two weeks. I went in on Monday which was our clean up day and the lady under the boss had a "clean up list" for me. I said You want me to clean up for the new person screw that. So stupid me was going to finish out my two weeks, the next day I was 3 minutes late and she flips out. I walked in put my key on the desk and left. Similar thing happened at the Gymboree I worked at. I was putting in literally 62 hour weeks because the boss's mom was sick. I had a vacation coming up, she called me on my vacation and wanted to know if I could come in. I was 5 hours away and told her so. She got upset and started bad talking about how I NEVER helped her out. I just never showed up again. Until I had to turn in my stuff. |

I walked off my first job. I was 16 and a party hostess in a bowling alley. You got tips if you were a good party hostess. It was me and 3 other people that
made up the party crew. Well, one of the genius lazyasses came up with the idea that we split the tips 4 ways. I worked that day, made about $200 in tips and
walked off

I never just walked out in the middle of the shift, but I did quit two jobs without putting in my two weeks.
I worked at a restaurant/inn and because I had been in retail forever, I was used to working at corporate places (and therefore, corporate rules) but this place was privately owned. Soo basically, there was a lot of sketchy stuff going on and managers were getting away with whatever and it just made me really uncomfortable. On top of that, the owner was psycho. I was going away for the weekend and I got someone to cover my shift and I wrote it on the schedule. The next day I was in, she changed ALL my hours from 3-8:30 to 7-3 AND took off the person covering for me and put me back on...without saying a WORD to me. So I got sick of that and at the end of my shift I told my manager I wasn't coming back. I just worked at Applebee's for a month as a hostess and it was sooo boring. I barely got hours and when I did, it was always morning shifts. Hosts get tipped out but obviously you're not gonna make anything from working in the morning. But yeah, you either seat people or you bus tables and I just couldn't take it anymore. OH, and they only tell you what time you have to be there...they can pretty much keep you there until whenever so it was like you could never make plans because you didn't know what time you were done. Anyway, my last shift, I went up to my manager and told him that I WAS gonna put my two weeks in but I didn't care so I was just not coming back lol. |

I did that when mcdonalds asked me to clean the bathroom, and there was like a line of diarrhea on the floor behind the toilet, I was like fuck this shit. I
also got sick of peoples attitude, I was like 5.45 an hour is not enough to put up with this.

Most recently I worked at a prechool, and my boss/owners daughter came in to relieve me. Well anyway she had a real attitude problem, and I guess she decided
she was gonna take out her bad mood on me. So she comes in to relieve me for my break with a real attitude shes like " You need to go".
And go i did I slammed the door and woke all the kids up, got in my car and drove. And I kept driving til I got home. I was like fuck that no ones gonna take out their agressions on me I gotta have some dignity! |

I've never returned to plenty of jobs but I only walked off on my last one.
I was working customer service and I hated it. I was tired of being screamed at all day by customers and fixing other peoples mistakes. They were raising our quotas, getting more strict and were about to stick me with a shitty shift thatw as a different time every day. I was about to quit and put in my two weeks but my coworker told me they would keep my last check so I said "fuck this! im not putting up with this crap just outta the goodness of my heart with no pay" So I gathered my things and elft right after he told me! |

Wow, I'm shocked that I'm in the minority that hasn't walked out. Unless I was seriously disrespected, I would never do that. I mean, I've had
jobs that I quit because I was absolutely miserable there, but I definitely would never think to just walk out without giving notice. IMO, part of being an
adult is owning up to your responsibilities, and sometimes they're not fun or enjoyable, but I just couldn't imagine not having the decency to give
notice and let them find someone else just because the job wasn't right for me.
Then again, I suck at quitting jobs even when I am miserable |
