I may have asked this before, but that other thread made me ask. There seems to be so much disgust against people that need help here, so it made me wonder. I
know that I might be causing trouble for myself, but whatever. I had to ask.

Considering how I was a teen when I had my first one, I would recommend people be more financially stable before having kids. Just because I would hate to have
anyone struggle like I did to find money to get diapers and gas for the car to get to work.

I don't think people should have kids unless they can support them. I don't think people should knowingly pop kids out knowing they will be on welfare
and food stamps forever. I would never shove a kid out when I am not financially stable. That is called being responsible and I do not see why other people do
not have the same mentality. I have known so called poor people who have taken care of their own kids by working two jobs so it can be done.

If you cannot afford a child (when it comes to food, clothing, shelter, obviously), you have no business having one. You end up putting a strain on yourself,
your child, and possibly the taxpayers.

People on this board tend to be unrealistic and very idealistic. I wasn't rich when I had my kid. Hell, I was a poor college student and ya know
what....we've all turned out just fine. Children don't need things money can buy. They need love, care and affection. You can be poor and provide that
for your children.

I don't think people should purposely have children when they can't afford them. It's unfair for everyone.

If you cant afford one than hell no. You dont go out and buy a million dollar house if you can only afford one months payment.
You cant just say that if you are poor you should deserve children like anyone else because all the 'anyones elses' are going to pay for your kid with the welfare and housing you are going to get since you couldnt do it the right way. Not to mention the free schooling you will then get cause your a single parent. |

I have nothing against someone who has a child and may need a little temporary government assistance to help them get on their feet. It's the people who
have (and keep having) children and basically LIVE on the system that I have a huge problem with.

What's the point of having a kid if you can't afford it? I don't get it. Why would you do that to your kid? No, you don't have to be rich but
you have to be able to get diapers and clothes and food and some toys plus a stable place to live... nobody should just have a kid willy nilly

Mistress Darcy wrote: Even poor people can feed and cloth their children and find housing. I'd also like to know what people on this board think of as poor. I struggled for
a while and gave up things for myself but fed, clothed and housed my child. My parents were also very poor. I'm glad they had me and I'll never regret
having my daughter. Poor people don't always have to stay poor either.

If someone can hardly afford to take care of themselves then NO they should not be having kids. It is selfish and unfair to make tax payers pay for them.

It's one thing if you just have a no-frills lifestyle, but CAN afford the basics for a child like food, shelter and clothing. Then, have a child and live
as low income as you like.
If you are gonna have kids and plan on not working, and letting the taxpayers foot the bill, don't do it. There's a difference between those two things. |

Well, damn! I'm happy JJB doesn't make the rules or I would have never been born! It is hard to grow up poor, but it taught me a lot of lessons and my
mom always made sure I had all I needed.

I'm just not convinced people get the difference. There's poor and then there's milking the system. |
