Well, Varlamov was due to come back to earth at some point.
Both Carolina and Boston scare the crap out of me. |

Well that was a disaster...
I'm loving the way the 'Canes (well, Staal and Ward) have played for most of the playoffs, but I think the Bruins have a better chance of beating the Pens... so I'm gonna have to cheer for the B's tomorrow. |

ccharms wrote:My thoughts exactly. Too bad Carolina wouldn't have home ice advantage. That damn RBC Center is a tough place to play. Varlamov came crashing down to reality and the Pens exposed just how awful the Capitals D is. How many times was Crosby allowed to breeze right to the net? Of course I was pulling for the Caps, but the Pens were the better team. That series also proved if the Rangers had any ounce of offensive abilities, then they would have taken that series. And I'm really starting to wonder what kind of team the Caps would be without Alex. Eh, I can't believe I have to "root" for either Carolina or Boston. And I want Detroit to win tonight just so I can hear the Wings fans sing again. Oh and no more late games! |

It's official..this whole PO was fixed from the get-go.
How do you NOT get a power play the whole game? How you get four minutes for highsticking the Overrated One,yet I seen players gushing blood that doen't even get called. A series that was close for six games suddenly turns to a blowout? Something smells fishy...& it's not Paris Hilton. |

^Did you even watch the game? The Pens played the same exact way they have for most of the series, except this time Varlamov fell apart and didn't keep the
Caps in the game. They didn't get any penalties because they had the puck for 75% of the game. The Caps completely imploded when Varlamov couldn't save
their butts. Not to mention Fleury's save on AO set the tone for the whole game. Or was that Buttman in Fleury's gear?

^There's no point in being rational with irrational people.
Really though, anyone who watched that series objectively could clearly see the Pens, for the most part, dominated the Caps. |

I think the series was a little fixed, because Crosby is the "face of the NHL" so of course everyone wants his team to make it far.
I thought the game was a HUGE DISASTER! The Caps had no fire under their butts to play, injured/tired/whatever there excuse, there was no excuse. You go out and play the game. I'm a HUGE Mike Green fan, and he seriously disappointed me all series long. If he was that hurt, which they are saying he has a bum shoulder, they should have let Alzner or Sloan play. He wasnt helping the team, and last night it def showed. I mean Poti is called to have been playing on a broken foot and he played better than Green. I did feel bad for Varlamov too. He had such a great two series, and game 7 was so bad for him, plus the fact that no one was around to help him! Like during the Crosby goal. Hopefully they learned a big lesson! and hopefully there will be some changes in the team. |

^There's no point in being rational with irrational people.I always try to ignore her, but I can't help myself. Glutton for punishment, I guess. I think the series was a little fixed, because Crosby is the "face of the NHL" so of course everyone wants his team to make it far.Right, because I'm sure the NHL wouldn't have liked to see Ovechkin in the next round. Come on. |

I hope somebody else is watching the Wings/Ducks games because I want somebody else to have seen Darren Helm just SMOKE two Ducks on a breakaway and score. I
don't think I've ever seen a Wing that fast.

Wings were the better team and deserved to win, for sure, but I hate that the non-call on the Cleary goal will taint people's recollection of the series...

After the Hossa no-goal, ehh. Come on you stupid Canes. |

Whoa... Go Canes, Go =)
And not just b/c they're facing the Pens. |

The Canes coaching staff is so cerebral looking. Paul Maurice and Ron Francis are awesome.

Go Hawks & 'Canes!
I'm so glad the Bruins didn't make it. Seriously choosing between the Bruins and Crybaby would be like choosing if I want to cut off my left leg or my right leg. Both options SUCK |

OFFICIAL STAAL BROTHER DRINKING GAME RULES
Drinking begins at puck drop. Single shot to be taken if: - it is mentioned that the Staals are brothers - if it is mentioned that there are other Staals, not present, who are also in the NHL - if a phrase such as "sibling rivalry" is used - if it is pointed out that BOTH STAALS ARE ON THE ICE - if anyone mentions the sod farm - if any random facts are introduced about the present Staals or the Staal family - if the Staal parents are mentioned - if any Staal reference occurs that would simply not occur in a one-Staal game Doubleshot to be taken if: - a comparative Staal brother graphic is shown on the screen - if they are verbally compared AT LENGTH by the announcers (use your own discretion in deciding"length") - if a video clip of the brothers/family is shown - if an interview with a Staal brother happens at intermission (add an additional shot if the Staal brother is asked anything about playing against his brother) - if the Staal parents are in attendance (this cancels out taking a single shot if the parents are mentioned, but not if they are mentioned separately from the fact that they are in attendance) If you're playing an advanced version of this game, mix yourself a drink. You can work on the mixed drink if: - there is an intermission feature on the Staal brothers - there is a mention of a Staal on Staal play, such as a Staal delivering a crushing check on another Staal, or a Staal being stripped of the puck by another Staal |

^ LOL.
There's bound to be a sign that says something along the lines of "hey Eric, it's Jordan's turn to win," a la 2003 SCF (Rob vs. Scott, Ducks vs. Devils). What's a picture of or reference to that worth? |

now I don't really care who wins. I guess I'll pull for one of the Staals in hopes of meeting them/seeing the Cup in TBay this summer. I hate
getting to the point where you're not really THAT interested in any of the teams.

Some people will easily be plastered by the end of the 1st period....
I think I have to play. Oh and if we want to talk about star players who get away with penalties, then let's talk about Pronger. He's such a douche. Still think he looks like a sleazy stockbroker. That was a thing of beauty. Dude has jet engines attached to his legs or something. My heart says Hawks and 'Canes, but my head says we're in for another repeat of last season's final. Also, this whole Coyotes bankruptcy/Balsillie vs. the NHL drama is all too entertaining. |
