She's purchased so many that she's run out of closet space and has turned to him and asked for help selling them on ebay. So the past couple of weeks he's brought home these huge shopping bags filled with handbags, the total cost of which thus far exceeds my yearly salary. So right now there a bunch of them in the hallway - several from Chloe, some bottega veneta, marc jacobs, miu miu ghurka jimmy choo and even balenciaga. Some of them still have price tags, and have never been removed from their dustbags!! And these are only the tip of the iceberg; she has dozens more. It is weird because she is not a flashy label whore type. In fact she strikes me as pretty sensible - she is a secretary and has a couple of cars that are nice, but defo not fancy or new. Whenever I've seen her she's usually wearing jeans, sweats or overalls and sneakers. It's funny because I didn't know what to buy her for Christmas one year and he told me she likes handbags and would probably be happy with a Coach gift certificate. Now I realize she spends more on a wallet than I put into that certificate! Anyway I am freaking out over all these fancy handbags. It's like having a mini Neiman-Marcus in my house. Only 2 of the 8 listed so far on ebay have sold (tbh i don't think my bf did a good job with the photos or listings.) So after taking into consideration listing costs, she's not getting much $$ for them. I told her to wait a few more years then they're "vintage" and might be worth more than she's trying to get for them now (?maybe?) If I bought/wore leather I'd be all over them - some are really beautifully crafted - alas I don't.....

He's probably not taking enough photos/the right kind of photos to assure eBay buyers of authenticity. Usually you need pics of heat stamps, date codes, authenticity tags/cards, etc. Oh and: Photos!

They're all REALLY BIG, too, like olsen-twin stylee. She's older, too (late 40's/50ish) so the styles are more mature, rather than trendy, if you know what I mean. the first group of bags he put on ebay have all expired - but when the next round goes up I can let people know if they're interested. i'm going to try to help him with the photos and stuff since the first set of posting didn't do justice.

Actually, depending on the designer some bags become more expansive as they get older as they are perceived to be cooler. That being said she would have think about inflation..blah

Agreed - do you have tips? He usually sells car parts and bicycle and gourmet coffee-making stuff online, so women's fashion isn't his forte. Like, here is his totally crappy pic of the Jimmy Choo handbag. The bag is one of my favorites but looking at this photo you would never know how cute it is.
