Happy New Years! Hola a todos! I hope everyone had an awesome holiday season! I've been spending time with my family, and it's been great! It's been so nice to finally relax and spend time with all of them. We've been in Vegas for the last little while. I've been eating WAY too much, but hopefully I'll be able to lose some of it lol. Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for incredibly thoughtful things you've been saying wishing me happy holidays and also happy birthday! haha. I just had my birthday on the 28th, so I'm now officially 18. Thanks sooo much for all the comments and videos that you guys have sent! It was way cool to see them!! For my birthday we ate Thai food for dinner, and then saw the Blue Man Group which was really cool and creative. It was cool to go to a show with my family and have a fun time doing something together, so I had a great day. On our way to the show my siblings and I found out that we all happened to know the Harry Potter Puppet Pals and the Mysterious Ticking Noise and had enough of us to do the different parts... haha. We're dorks, but we had fun. But thanks again for all the things you guys have done for me during the holiday season! And hope everyone has a Happy New Year!! I'll be making an appearance at the Newphoria New Year's Eve Dance in Orem, Utah for New Year's, so for those of you going I'll see ya there! But anyway my mom's telling me to hurry up because we're going to eat now so I'll talk to you guys later! P.S. Thanks for making the Crush video hit 10 million hits!!!!!! I was like.. floored when I found out! haha. P.P.S. This blog is way shorter than my other ones! Hooray for not rambling insanely! Song for the day - If This Isn't Love - Jennifer Hudson This is a really cool song. I like listening to it. haha

New Years Resolution? I hope everyone's having a great new year so far! I have an official resolution I have set which I'm going to try and keep up with this year, but I'm going to keep it to myself to see how well I do until the end haha... But if you guys don't mind sharing your resolutions feel free to! I think it's fun to know about those kinds of things. I performed at a thing in Orem, Utah called Newphoria which was great. My parents, little sisters, and a bunch of my friends were able to come and celebrate! I sang ALTNOY and Crush, and there were some other really neat acts there. My friends, The Osmonds 2nd Generation who were also performing earlier, got a hold of me and invited me to do it. I thought it was a really fun way to celebrate while at home, and I was sooo happy to have my friends and family there with me. We had a blast! Ashley Tisdale was also there hosting. We danced like idiots, and I got some good exercise out of it. This weekend I went to San Diego to visit a girl for Make-A-Wish who was having a very difficult time battling cancer. It was probably one of the most special things I have ever experienced, and incredibly touching. It helped me even more to be motivated and act. We need to keep ..ing those who battle against such sicknesses. I want to thank those of you who are so strong in facing those kinds of obstacles, and are such an example of hope and strength. Something like that reminds me of what matters most in this life, and I hope to never forget that. I want to thank her and her family, and I want them to know I'm strongly keeping them in my prayers. I'm also so appreciative of Make-A-Wish for allowing incredible things to happen for kids and let their dreams come true. And THANK YOU!! to all of you guys for your donations that you've been sending for such great causes! A lot of you have made donations in my name, so thanks for doing that. I always think about how those donations will help out, even if it's not a huge contribution. That small amount can help change someone's life one way or another, and just thinking about it gives me the chills. But anyway, sorry for going off on that, I just felt like it was something important to let out. While we were in San Diego, I got to meet up with one of my friends who was there on vacation. Their family was going to the Chargers vs. Colts game, so we decided to go too! It was such an exciting game, and I'm really glad I was able to see my friend haha. I think it's cool to meet up with buddies somewhere different from where you live. It was my first NFL game, and the crowd was nuts. The really cool thing about it is the game was at Qualcomm Stadium, which is where I first auditioned for American Idol! It brought back a lot of memories of a lot of waiting lol. But it was cool, and neat to think about how it all started. Today I'll be singing at Utah's Governor Huntsman's inauguration, and even though it's FREEZING... it should be a good time. I actually sang at the Governor Huntsman's inauguration the first time lol. But yeah. It's actually so hard to sing when it's cold! I tend to lose my voice in cold weather, and I must be cold-blooded because I just don't do well with low temperatures. I'll let you know how it went in my next blog, but I better get going here. Unlike my last blog, this is pretty long haha. So I'll talk to you guys later! P.S. Before I go I wanted to mention one thing real quick. I was hanging out at my house when my parents called me in to watch a story on Oprah about this girl named Charice. I had seen her on youtube before and she was at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, but it was amazing to hear her story and her voice! She seriously has one of the best voices I've heard in a long time, and I had chills the entire time I was watching about her life. So instead of a song for the day I think you should check her out! It's more like a person for the day haha. She was really inspiring and for those of you who haven't heard her yet I think you're in for a real treat! She sang My Heart Will Go On during her appearance on Oprah, and it's amazing to see how much passion she has for what she does! I also loved how she talked about how important her mom was to her. I hope you guys enjoy!

Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. might be considered a media-savvy, polished politician, but at his inauguration on Monday even he couldn't compete with David Archuleta for the screams and shrieks of young audience members. Archuleta, the Murray 18-year-old who finished second in the most recent season of FOX's TV juggernaut "American Idol," made a brief appearance on the south steps of the Utah State Capital for the governor's swearing-in ceremony. The singer performed the national anthem, again, at the request of the governor, four years after the then-14-year-old sang at Huntsman's first inaugural ceremony. On Monday, Archuleta's appearance drew many young teen and pre-teen girls to the brief outdoor ceremony. Clad in a dark brown sweater, plaid scarf and black skinny jeans, the faux-hawked Archuleta looked much different than he did during his first inaugural performance. Then he wore a schoolboy's busy tie, demin shirt and dark suit, his bowl-cut hair combed down onto his forehead. Four years ago, Archuleta's performance of the national anthem was strong yet slightly tentative, and the singer stumbled a bit on the phrase "broad stripes and bright stars." Then he verged precariously close to being off-pitch, especially early in the song as he nervously licked his lips. At the conclusion, he received a smattering of polite applause. On Monday, in contrast Archuleta was shaking, but only because of the cold temperatures, as he performed without a hat, jacket or gloves. When the teen began the song, it was obvious that performing in front of millions of people in the last year, both on tour and in front of a national TV audience, had bolstered his confidence. The soulful tenor was dramatic, his phrasing marked with melismas -- that is, singing single syllables while moving between several different notes -- but not overly showy. The highlight came when his voice soared at the end of the song, on the lyrics "Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave," hitting the high notes that have doomed many an anthem singer at baseball stadiums. Unlike four years ago, he was rewarded with squeals from young fans, and as well as a pat on the back from Thomas Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his performance, Archuleta exited the ceremony by cutting through the Capitol, while scores of girls playing hooky from school followed him. The 18-year-old met fans in the State Reception Room, where Huntsman a half-hour later would greet well-wishers and the media. The singer cheerfully responded to fan requests, placing cell phone calls to friends, or hugging daughters and mothers while signing autographs of his self-titled CD. He apologized for shaking during the ceremony. "I don't handle cold very well," he said. Afterward, 15-year-old Megan Smith was grinning as she told her friend, "He touched my marker!"
Not only was Monday's inauguration ceremony for Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and other state officials the first held on the steps of the Capitol, there's little doubt it was also the first such ceremony to attract squealing teenage girls. They were there to hear "American Idol" finalist David Archuleta, a Murray High School student, sing the national anthem. Some slipped away after the young star was escorted off the makeshift stage following his performance.
We hear rumors about some ruckus happening back East in the next few weeks -- some kinda politics coffee klatch that we're sure will be vastly overshadowed by the start of Season 7. But the eyes of Idol Nation today were on Salt Lake City, where the most momentous political event of the year went off like a dream. We refer of course to the re-inauguration of Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., who in what augers very well for his governing sense had the inspiration and good sense to select his state's favorite son, the Chosen One, David Archuleta, as the opening act of his festivities -- consecrating his installment with a rendition of this national anthem.

Single Review: David Archuleta - Crush Today 11:00 So I think I had better start by saying that as a fan of metal / rock and the occasional bout of 'emo' music; I was slightly dubious about the latest R n B offering, especially when it came in a 17-year old package! However as the runner-up in the US's American Idol and being listed in second place on Forbes List of Breakout Stars of 2008, there's little surprise that this track really changed my mind. I'm usually a little wary about people who have been churned out of talent shows, because more often than not, they are just the best of a bad bunch; with the obvious exception of Leona Lewis, Jennifer Husdon and Kelly Clarkson. And now of course, David Archuleta. If you weren't lucky enough to watch some of his heart stopping performances on American Idol, then you will be happy to know the song has slow-grinding verses mixed with a chorus which has your feet heading right for the dance floor and your 'come to bed' eyes wandering for the best looking guy in the room. If you take all the talent from the boy bands of the past few years - Blue, N'Sync or Backstreet Boys combine it with an more edgy sound and a super hot man, David Archuleta's Crush is what I'm pretty sure you'd end up at. What's more, I can hardly believe that this heartfelt, catchy song is coming from a boy of just seventeen years old; and if this is what he's bringing out at his age, I have little doubt that he is going to grow into mind-blowing tracks in no time at all. An absolutely mind-blowing debut single from a real American Idol.... Well one in the making at least. Rating: 5 / 5 http://www.femalefirst.co...rchuleta++Crs-¬6738.html
