I really want to know what on earth it is, but she was just too upset to remember the name -- just that it is some sort of autoimmune disease. I am trying to remain calm in order to not further freak her out, however I'm crying and flipping out. I really wish that I at least knew the name of it, so that I could internet research and get actual, reliable facts about it.

She says that she just got really emotional and forgot the name. In her words: "so like basically i have to be healthy or my lungs and my organs and everything will just like malfunction"

I know how that is, my friend told me the other night that she's dying, there's something in her brain that could kill her tomorrow or in 20 years. It's tough knowing what to do with information like that.

Science is not my forte and I also have been blessed enough to not have any relatives or friends with diseases in the past. I'm glad that it's not like..."I'm dying this year" or something. But shit, 30 being a possibility? We're 22. That is...not long. I feel panicked at the thought of that. Thanks everyone for your kind words and I am so sorry to everyone else with a loved one with serious health problems.

I know sometimes there are drugs or whatever that can give you 10-20 more years than you would otherwise have or whatev.
