she's amazing actress. I watched La Vie En Rose 2 times this week because of her. The scene when she found out about Marcel Cerdan... my god, give her an
oscar already!

She was great in the movie. But its been pretty much decided that Julie Christie will win for Away From Her. I dont think anyone has seen that movie though.

Well, at least Marion won a Golden Globe this year.
And next she will star in Nine, the new musical by the director of Chicago. |

^ well Adrien Brody pulled an upset before so I don't think it's a given yet (I have away from her dvd but still not in the right mood to watch it).
Slightly off topic: I didn't know Edit Piaf before until I watched this touching scene with Savings Private Ryan. They listened to Edith before that final battle scene and I always find this very poignant. She has a very tragic life story and Marion potrayed her very well... |

Well, I've seen both La Vie En Rose and Away From Her and though Christie's performance is nicely understated,
Cotillard wipes the floor with Christie's performance.
But that's the Oscars. They almost NEVER get it right with the women. They lost all respect from me the year Crash won for Best Picture. |

^ yeah exactly and also Savings Private Ryan lost to this movie called Shakespeare in love...No pun intended, I couldn't believe the hype and I totally
didn't get how that could happen. Crash is another one of those too.
But sometimes...they get it right and there were a lot of upsets before....so I think Marion still stands a chance. |

I don't recall Adrien Brody's win being an upset.
He deserved to win. from wiki: 2002 Adrien Brody - The Pianist as Władysław Szpilman

moussemaker wrote: I believe his win was considered an upset because of the fact that Daniel Day Louis had won al the previous awards and the only other sometimes winner that year was Jack Nicholson I believe. Although I do think Daniel Day Lewis' performance was just as good. |
