Slightly off topic: I didn't know Edit Piaf before until I watched this touching scene with Savings Private Ryan. They listened to Edith before that final battle scene and I always find this very poignant. She has a very tragic life story and Marion potrayed her very well...

But that's the Oscars. They almost NEVER get it right with the women. They lost all respect from me the year Crash won for Best Picture.

Crash is another one of those too. But sometimes...they get it right and there were a lot of upsets before....so I think Marion still stands a chance.

Yep, Jack Nicholson was the favorite at the time and he won golden globe and critic choice award (just like Julie Christie now) before the Oscar.
