Hell, I loved watching Leave it to Beaver, Petticoat Junction, Mr. Ed, Andy Griffith, Full House, Step by Step, etc.

Were TV shows better back in the day or now? |

I think a lot of TV shows now are crap. Sure there are some that are entertaining, but for the most part...just no.

Lol I like how you used "back in the day" to encompass 1950 to approx 1997.

I hate Reality Shows and for a while there that's all that was on. But I still love the shows back in the day. The oldies like I Love Lucy

Dramas are better now, but sitcoms were better before!

I think I Love Lucy is still a classic. I can see it running for another 50+ years but I don't really see that with the shows now. Except maybe Friends.
When I really think about it, I think the late 80s and early 90s was one of the worst times for TV. I mean, I'm fond of so many of these shows because I grew up on them, but when I really think about them--Step By Step, Blossom, Growing Pains, these were horribly cheesy shows and I don't necessarily consider them good apart from the fact that when I was little I enjoyed them and so it reminds me of that. |

There are one or two REALLY good shows right now but mostly the stuff from the mid 90s and back was so much better.

The TGIF days were better in terms of sitcoms, for sure.

For me some of the shows that I loved as a kid make me want to dig my eyes out... Like Saved by the Bell, Full House and The Fresh Prince Of Bell-Air rocked my
world back in the day. However, the re-runs test my gag reflex.m

Television has really turned into crap the last couple of years, partly because of so many reality shows.

There are only about 4 shows tops that I really love, so definitely TV back in the 90's and stuff.
