"He didn't think any of us was operating in the best interest of the band. I asked him what he meant by that, and he said, `Well, you know, when y'all did your movie,' meaning Joey (Fatone) and me (and their 2001 film On The Line)...

Yeah...and if they didn't know, then they're not as smart as I thought. Even my 2-year-old nephew could have figured it out faster. But yeah it's always up to Justin. Justin, Justin, Justin. It's like Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.
They weren't dumb. Would you believe your BFF or Brother/ Sister if they kept saying I am coming back? I sure would. Guess that makes me dumb.

It was still his responsibility to tell the guys, "Look, I don't know if you guys realize it, but I'm liking the solo thing and I don't think I want to continue as a part of the group." There. Done. No excuses, no lies, complete honesty and responsibility. They were hopeful about a return, and he didn't want a part of that. Fine. But it still is wrong for him to have made up those lame excuses, if that's how it happened. And like I said before I'm inclined to believe Lance is being truthful. I don't know how you could even make that one up if you tried.
Lance would have had to be doing some serious stuff if he some how made it all up. Which I don't think he did

Exactly what I meant - it's one of the possibilities. That was what he thought at the time (and may very well still thinks). But that is his interpretation of Justin's actions and thoughts, not necessarily the truth. It may be but we don't know. He may even feel differently now. The whole point is that we don't even have the entire conversation, never mind the rest of the book, nor do we know what Justin was actually thinking.

I go hard for Jesse and Shia
it's possible that he dragged it out as long as possible to assure that his fame was secured.

I love how people who don't know, wait, actually people who literally hate Justin, know him well enough to know when he made up his mind that NSYNC was over. Insanity.

Well, some people called the other guys dumb for thinking he'd come back
