Sex and the City - Apartment Interior Shots |
Lead | |
|
HBO has a feature which includes interior shots of the apartments of the 4 main characters on Sex and the City. I remember going cuckoo over Carrie's cool
closet! The shots below are all Carrie's place.

Cool. I modeled my old studio apartment behind Carrie's apartment (weirdo, I know) and could never get it right. Wish I'd have seen this sooner.

For a person who spend a lot of money on clothes. She should have decorated her apartment better. She had great style, too bad her apartment has none.
Yes, I know carrie is not real. |

I love Sex and the City but it was so unrealistic because Carrie wrote one column once a week and she could miraculously afford a NYC apartment and tons of
designer clothes.

^^^true, but she was also an author and worked for vogue, which i assume she made lots of money from. She had a bunch of odd jobs here and there, but yeah, her
lifestyle was way too extravagant for the amount of money she probably made.
I love her apartment. |

Carie was also in debt. She lived way beyond her means.

I love Sex and the City but it was so unrealistic because Carrie wrote one column once a week and she could miraculously afford a NYC apartment and tons of designer clothes.I find it somewhat amusing that I'm getting ready to go all out with an explanation for this...lol...but I love this show, that much! Though she wrote a single column, just once a week - the show played hard into how popular she was. Many a time, they described her as New York's "famous" sex/relationship columnist. Plus, wasn't her column in a well known news paper, like the Ledger or something? They never said how much she got paid, but I'm sure it was a pretty penny. Especially with her being asked to sign book deals, and have photo shoots, etc. New York is not only known for their expensive lifestyle, but also for being pretty extravagant when it comes to salary, simply because the cost of living doubles (or more). Also, the Carrie character was also very outspoken about spending money frivolously when she didn't really have it to spend. There were at least 2 or 3 episodes a season where Carrie was faced with some big time financial problem. She definitely wasn't living like Miranda, Charlotte, or Samantha. That's for sure. Yeah and that's my S.A.T.C lesson for the day

Plus they made it very clear that her apartment cost something like 650 a month in one of the eppys! Rent control, gotta love it.

wow, i didn't remember the decor being so drab and sloppy. guess the latter makes sense though since carrie always seemed very chaotic.

I think her apt. was $750 because of rent control. Still, I did find it hilarious, that even with a cheap apt. and being in debt, she would buy $300 shoes and clothes. That was the only non-realistic part about her character. And her character had horrible taste in clothes. I'm sorry, Carrie's style sucked! And those who dressed Miranda sucked too. They couldn't put nice clothes with a red head. The only one out of all 4, whose style/apartment I loved was Charlotte's. Of course, only after she got rid of the "where plaid went to die"
rooms! |

Erikaluv wrote:Hmm..well you make some very good points! I know that she was very well known, because random people she met always told her how much they loved her column and everything. However, she wears a new outfit every single episode, and it's all very high end clothing. She wears SERIOUSLY expensive clothing, like Chanel Coats, Gucci dresses, and Balenciaga suits. It's just way too much on the salary that she probably has. There is no way that she would be able to afford all of that.

I'm sorry, Carrie's style sucked! And those who dressed Miranda sucked too. They couldn't put nice clothes with a red head. I agree. I'm immediately reminded of a Chanel number she wore when she gave miranda's digits to a cute guy sitting across from them at a restuarant. It was some tight tie dye capri leggings with a baggy die die shirt with completely different colors and then a scarf on her head that didn't help. Just bad. I could go on for ten pages on that girls terrible outfits. I always liked it better when Carrie downplayed and did just one or two peices, but that wasn't often. I think Samantha had the best style. |
