AA has a pt.^

Also, the way the OP worded it - it sounds as if he gave her the $25 BEFORE she gave them the bill. Which I would have believed was for me/her to keep and NOT toward a bill they had not yet received. [And yes, as a former server, I would get handed 20s or whatnot before dropping the bill as a tip.. so it's NOT uncommon at all]
This is exactly the thought that went through my mind as I read this post.  I definitely had 20 dollars bills pressed into my hand, particularly when taking care of parties and someone was perhaps concerned certain people wouldn't tip properly.  Her mindset probably was that she shouldn't have to give up money she was given to finish paying your bill, because even though that would be a generous tip on a $60 tab, it's not unheard of.  Also, I have to wonder if there was a gratuity that was supposed to be included with the bill and you guys maybe weren't taking that into account.

I don't agree with her running after you guys (although I definitely thought about doing that many times as a waitress ).  The thing you need to remember though is that she is responsible for all her tabs being paid at the end of the night.  I once had someone leave $40 as though that was enough to cover their bill that was over $100.  I had to make up the difference, because how were the managers to know I hadn't just stolen the money?  And it sure as shit pissed me off that much more that I'd actually made amazing tips that night and didn't get to enjoy them because some assholes screwed me.
