This is true (although it may depend on the company).  We're doing a lot of hiring of new grads now and the ones who asked for more $$$ got put right on the BOTTOM of the pile.  Be grateful the company thinks you are worth investing in and in time, you will move up.  Get the experience and don't act like the world owes you something.  In this economy, you are very lucky to get a job offer.
  
This. Like Jaime said, they may not have even hired you if you had tried to negotiate so it's better that you didn't. College grads don't have much to offer fresh out of school (and thus no pull) so most companies won't negotiate.
