Why bother? You'd save a ton of money if you just went to city hall. All your family and friends could wish you well over email for free.

Believe me, I'm not the kind of person who goes for elaborate wedding dinners. I don't even eat the entrees, for the most part. I like appetizers and desserts.

For my own wedding, I'd want something very small, but classy. Something in a garden would be great. Finger foods, nice wine, etc. Only family and close friends. I don't like to be the center of attention, so I don't want something huge, or even large. I would give the guests stuff to do and eat, though. They'll have a good time.

Edit: You do realize that not everyone who drinks gets drunk and acts like a frat boy, right?  It's very silly to tell your guests, "if you're hungry, just go to a restaurant afterwards".  People won't say things to your face, but they will talk behind your back. Not saying that it matters or that you'll care, but it will happen.
