Well, as far as I know they never try to put names in Chinese characters or anything... if they can't even recognize the names to know who to vote for, they shouldn't be voting.

I don't know how you can be a citizen of the country and not speak the language... how will you pass the citizenship test? And if you're born here... how can you grow up and go to school and NOT learn the language?

What makes you think just because English is the "official language" than things can't be available in other languages? THAT would be an accomodation for people. In France, you go to the metro stations and use the machines and they give you plenty of language options to choose from.

That's true. Espicially in big tourist spots. When I was in England sight seeing some of the leaflets must have been in about 15 different languages. But when I went to order food somewhere, or purchase something - I was able to understand the person because they knew English, they didn't have someone working there that only spoke German or something.
