How did you afford it? Was it for Undergrad or Graduate? Would you recommend it?

Also, is it an atmosphere of a bunch of snooty suburban white kids with wealthy parents with places in the hamptons?!

I found a graduate program I'd really like to get into.. but I am a bit concerned about affording it, if I'll like it there. (Never been to NY. Lived in Munich for 3 months though)

I LOOOVEE living in an urban area - I live and work in the city.

I did.  Graduate.  Had government and private loans.  Very expensive, but worth it.  I lived on-campus.  For grad housing, NYU has several apartment buildings.  I lived at Wall and Broad and then 11th and 5th.  No, not a bunch of snooty, white kids.  It was a very diverse program.  I LOVED my program and my professors.  I learned a LOT.  And I LOVED living in NYC and interning there.
