If I didn't read the book, I don't think I would have liked the movie. I cried when I read the book...which I never do. I brought tissues thinking I was going to be a complete mess, and to my surprise I didn't even need them. I think the acting was just so poor that the emotions that an audience feels were weakened. Amanda was just horrible in that role, and I like her on Big Love. It was worth $10.50 just to watch Channing because damn, he is hot.

The movie could have been so much better if they had casted somebody better to be Savannah. That was a big fail.

We, of course, had two women behind us that were laughing their way through the movie, so perhaps they disturbed my movie experience. It's hard to immerse yourself into big scenes when people are laughing (loudly) during them.
