Even though they did change the ending of The Notebook for film, I did enjoy the book as much as I did the movie...due in large part to the wonderful casting and direction and cinematography. It was a great film. Same with Message in a Bottle, it was done really well and I liked both the book and the movie equally.

The film version of A Walk to Remember is lackluster, IMO. It's cute, but I think it wasn't as successful at incorporating the contemporary into what is a largely traditional book. So the tone was just awkward. But it was very cute.

Nights in Rodanthe...good book, awful movie.

I'm a little iffy on Dear John and The Last Song. I wish a film version of A Bend of the Road would be made, it's my favorite Nicholas Sparks book.
