1st, you are not more likely to get killed just because you live in a rural area.

2nd, it seems not many people in here understand good value. And the fact that when you buy a house like that and re model it, you can rebuild it the way YOU want it. And in the long run, doing most work yourself, you save a lot of money. I imagine the house is going to be beautiful when it is finished. Hard work pays off.

My b/f's dad is a carpenter (and owns a lumber yard), and we wouldn't be able to do this without him. It would cost us several thousand dollars to hire the work out, and we just wouldn't be able to do it if that were the case. I know his dad isn't going to charge us for his labor, but we're going to pay him something anyways.

It's a great feeling to be able to do a lot of the work yourself, too. He and I have done A LOT of the destruction and clean-up inside. So has my dad. We will feel very accomplished when the house is done. Heck, we already do!!
