I've been a swimmer my whole life so I'm going to tell you what I tell everyone else. If you are going to swim to workout, no one gives a shit about what you look like in a swimsuit. Buy a couple of competitive swimsuits, some decent goggles (I like the Speedo Hydrospex Classics) a swim cap, get the fuck in the water and quit yer bitching! JK but honestly? Swimming is THE most underrated form of exercise out there.

Also, the key is to first work on your breathing and kicking. People jump in and start doing shit without working on their breathing and then 2 seconds later they are so out of breath and ready to get out of the water! Ease your way into its and you will be amazed and how much fun it is and time will start to fly by when you are in the water.
