I might be misunderstanding this...
Wouldn't surprise me! But I actually did this a couple of weeks ago. I basically plugged in my ipod to my new laptop and opened the folder to get all my music. Then I copied the entire folder into my documents. I did it like that because just opening the folder and copying the songs into your itunes isn't going to work. It is going to say it can't play because the original file can't be located. So, copying the folder will get all those files onto your new computer. Then from there I copied and pasted all the files into my itunes, and tada it worked great.

There were a couple of things I wasn't clear on and had to figure out myself, but the guide itself is pretty good.
