There's three credits per class, being 4 classes the minimum. Eighteen credits is the maximum, obviously 6 classes. You can get permission to take one more under certain circumstances.

But we go by semesters, two in a year. Fall and Spring. Fall is August through December. And Spring is January through June.

I have no idea about quarters or how long they are or how many you have in a year. Because, well, you know, I don't go to a school with quarters.
I'd like to add to this too. To be considered a full-time undergraduate student, you must take 12 hours (4 classes) a semester. For graduate students, 9 hours (3 classes) a semester qualifies you as fulltime.
