As for the comment about that generation being the most self entitled...wrong, that's the current generation. The one that most of us are in. Today's generation is too busy yapping on cell phones and worrying about me, me, me, to care about anything important.

Wrong. Today's generation (that would be Gen Y, born around 1983) are more involved in public and community service and charity than any other generation, ever.
I'm going to have to ask where you got that information, because everything I've ever seen says the contrary or that there really isn't much of a difference between the generations and how much time or money they dedicate to charity.

And I think that when they talk about self entitlement they're more talking about how kids of our generation demand a lot more of their parents than kids of other generations ever did. I mean, think about it. Nowadays we often EXPECT our parents to pay for college. I don't believe our parents generation expected that. A lot of the kids I grew up with EXPECTED their parents to buy the latest fashions, help buy their first car (if not just give them one outright), etc. These were things our parents did not expect of their parents. We also expected (up until the last few years) to get a great job right out of college that paid really well and had great benefits. I don't know if that was something our parents expected. From what I've seen of my parents, that was never something they expected - even with college degrees. It was something they worked for.

And I think that our parents ARE to blame for making our generation feel so entitled to these things so they definitely have their own part in it, but so do we.

Exactly. Our generation just had to have the new Jordans, the new designer jeans, and all the coolest toys. And our parents got us all of that...because they wanted to give us the life their parents didn't give them. We're adults now, we need to take responsibility for being the way we are. We can't place the blame on our parents forever. Look at us now, we need the new i-Pod when it comes out, a new cell phone yearly, designer clothes, TV's, computers, etc. That's on us.

As for our generation contributing the most to charity, I don't buy it. Every generation did that, especially the baby boomers. I'm not seeing where we're doing anything different then every other generation. If you ask me, Gen X has contributed far more then we have.
