What a load of crap. We have nationalised healthcare in Australia. ALL emergenices are dealt with for free and straight away. Elective surgery has a waiting list. Sometimes a really long one.

Obviously there are still horror stories, hospitals do get backed up, etc.

BUT the big benefit is, because we have medicare, private health cover is way more competitive and affordable for pretty much everyone. If you have private health cover you can choose to go public or private system. You can choose your doctor, choose your hospital and there is no wait.

My private health cover with full hospital benefits costs me a couple of hundred dollars a year. So I can go public for emergencies (they're the best) and private for everything else (so I can choose and there's no wait).
