i TOTALLY forgot about Erin Brockovich!
agreed on Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sun as well. that was total ridic. I understand Hollywood politics but i can't always let it slide
Philip Seymour Hoffman nabbed it with "Capote." That was deserved. I'm not keen on all the attention he's been getting since then, but he definitely deserved that one.
oh and LOTR was snubbed very many times for various categories over the 3 year period. as much as I would prefer not to, I guess the 11-Oscar sweep in the final year made up for all that shit the previous years. people can rant all they want but all 3 films were nothing short of masterpieces, every single one of them. People so easily gloss over them and claim they're just a CGI-fest. Not so. Ian McKellen should've won for FOTR. Simple. Several other performances also could've warranted nomination.
