Article from USA Today - Backstage with Archie

Backstage, David A. is preparing for his moment, walking around, vocalizing, fluttering his lips, drinking water. He's been listening to his Idol-mates, but he's trying to keep his energy in check, to save the adrenaline rush for the stage. "I'm excited -- a little nervous, but I'm excited to see how it all works out." He's particularly looking forward to his last song, When You Say You Love Me, which he says he really connects with. "Since so many people want me to do Josh Groban stuff, I thought I'd give them a taste of it." But his charcoal suit with the silver-tipped lapels? He's not connecting with that so much. "It's interesting how it's glittery," says Archie, ever the diplomat (wardrobe picked it; the little guy's gotta stand out on that big stage). But is it him? "Nah."

Regarding the hordes of wannabe Mrs. Archuletas out in the arena, he's amused, humbled and a bit weirded out by it all. "It's something I never expected to happen."

The would-be wives will get more Archie come November, "somewhere around there," when his album debuts. And he's hoping it will showcase more than his voice. "It would be so cool if I had a song that deserved to be on the radio - not just, 'I wrote it, so it's going on there.' I want it to be, 'It's good, so it's going on there.'" -- O.B.
