Well if they thought Justin was coming back then what stopped them from doing a solo cd or movie and doing the same? Why is he special? If they didn't capitalize on the time wisely then too bad.

The difference is, what they knew. If Justin knew he might want to stay solo, he was motivated to really go all out and let his solo CD set him up for future SOLO success. The other guys, not knowing that *NSYNC was over, did things they enjoyed, but what's the point of doing something at an extremely high level if you're not going to be able to continue it? I'm sure the other 4 gave a lot to their projects, but I'm equally sure they would have done some things differently had they known their future careers would depend on what they did during the "hiatus".

Also, this quote: If they didn't capitalize on the time wisely then too bad.

You're not the only person who has said something like this, and I think people who think this way are missing the point completely. Put it this way, you and four of your family members plan a big party for your parents' anniversary. It's to be a joint party, representing several different sides of the family. One of you, who just happens to LOVE parties and planning them, keeps telling you that she'll get back to you on the details, she's so excited you're all gonna be working together on this party, she's telling everyone else she's gonna be working with you on it, blah, blah, blah. So the rest of you are excited, and you do some of the work for the party, but you're saving the bulk of it for when you all get together. Then, one day, she walks into a meeting and tells you that she won't be working on your party for your parents, she's decided to do one on her own, and it's happening right away. The rest of you are just stuck, and all your big plans and hopes for this great, unifying anniversary party are gone. Now, are the four of you stupid and lazy, or did you just give your love and trust to someone who proved that she didn't deserve it in this case? I realize this isn't EXACTLY like what they went through, but hopefully it helps to illustrate my point, lol.

Joey, JC, Lance and Chris weren't stupid or naive. They just loved and trusted that Justin would keep his word, and they were hurt and angry when that turned out NOT to be true.
