That's very narrow reasoning. It was still his responsibility to tell the guys, "Look, I don't know if you guys realize it, but I'm liking the solo thing and I don't think I want to continue as a part of the group." There. Done. No excuses, no blame game, no lies, complete honesty and responsibility. They were hopeful about a return, and he didn't want a part of that. Fine. But it still is wrong for him to have made up those lame excuses, if that's how it happened. And like I said before I'm inclined to believe Lance is being truthful. I don't know how you could even make that one up if you tried.
