I'm saying what if he didn't know until around the time of CFTC 2004? There's nothing shitty about him telling them then if that's when he knew. We DON'T KNOW when exactly he decided that it wasn't in his best interest to continue with the group.

The excuses he gave were pretty shitty still. How can you go one day from saying "NSYNC album a go" to "No NSYNC album" Theres a while were he started to think, and should have told them then his feelings

I agree the turning it around on them was pretty shitty but we do not know when Justin decided he definitely did not want to be in the group. It's possible that he hadn't made up his mind until later and wanted to be 100% positive before alarming them, it's possible that he dragged it out as long as possible to assure that his fame was secured. Many things are possible. At the end of the day we do not know. Making snap judgements based on a few passages from Lance's book is precisely what Lance warned against doing. On top of that we're talking about the thoughts inside Justin's head, so they're not even based off of anything he himself has said or insinuated. Personally I want to hear about any in depth conversations they may have had about this at the time and later, or something else that may explain why they're all friends even after all this going down. I'm definitely going to buy it whenever it comes out here. It sounds interesting.
